Hello,

I've been reading the Stargazerslounge Forum for a few months now and have decided to join the group. There are quite a large number of members, and I hope to learn a great deal about astronomy from this forum. I've already learned so much. I have recently bought a pair of 10x50 binos, but hope to buy a telescope in the near future.

Which scope would you recommend? I'm definitely thinking of the EQ mount, as I hope to do astrophotography eventually, and prehaps a 8" reflector.

Cheers

Raymond

Hi there Raymond, welcome to SGL :)

Before you spend anything I recommend that you read the book Making Every Photon Count (by SGL's very own steppenwolf). It'll explain what kit you'll need and (more importantly) why, helping you avoid poor and costly choices of equipment.

Easy to read, it's full of advice aimed at the imaging novice, including all the tips 'n' tricks and lots of other vital stuff, as well as choosing the right kit.

Have a trawl through the imaging sections too, They're full of info and some very experienced, talented folk who, I'm sure, will be more than happy to share advice and guidance with you.

Hi Raymond and welcome to the forum. Agree with David, take your time as the stars aren't going anywhere. Budget will be an important component in helping you decide what level of imaging will help satisfy your expectations. Collecting the "data" is only half of the story, processing is the other half in creating great images.

Clear skies
