toml42
Just curious, are there any specific benefits of observing the sun using a PST rather than attaching a decent Ha filter to a regular scope? Are they designed to dissipate heat more efficiently, or something along those lines? Merlin66
The PST and Lunts use a very special Ha filter - an etalon- which only allow a very, very narrow band of light through. The normal bandwidth is about 0.1nm.The Ha filter used for deep sky observing etc are around 10nm ie 100 times the bandwidth are are no good for solar observing. Different problem: different solution.
