What is the procedure for using a Wixey Angle Gauge on a Dob

Hi Guys

Having recently acquired a Flextube Dob i was wondering how useful would a Wixey Digital Angle Guage be and can someone run through a step by step procedure of how to use it.

They are a must have.

What I do is:

Level the OTA and check with a level

Press zero on the guage

Then raise scope up to Polaris and check Altitude reading is correct.

If not then OTA couldn't have been dead level so readjust until Polaris is correct reading.

I have founs also that the more level your base is the more accurate the Wixey.

I assume that i leave the Wixey turned on throughout the observing session.

Looks like a red torch is needed to read the gauge at night !

Yes leave it on. A red torch is a must with the wixey.
