Double stacking H-alpha question

Recommended Posts

Quick question:

:help:If I were to take two etalons from two PSTs and screw one into the other within the optical light path would this work as a 'double stack' to narrow the bandwidth and increase surface detail, or does it not work like this?

Anyone?

Thanks

Stu.

Yes, such an arrangement will work as a double stack.

I even machined up an adaptor to hold the etalons together.

Compared with a double stack of SM60 filter (or even a SM60+PST etalon) I found the double PST to be VERY touchy and matching sweet spots was difficult. IMHO using a PST etalon to double stack a larger SM60/SM90 etc is a much better arrangement.
