Spectroscopy software help.

Can anyone please tell me of a Mac version of RSpec, or any other software. Would like to get a Star Analyser grating, and use my spc900.

Good question!

I'm not aware of any of the popular spectroscope processing programs being available for Mac. Vspec, SkySpec, RSpec are all PC based. Is there an compatibility mode you can use??

Thanks for the reply Merlin, will go and look what is needed to run the windows versions and get the operating system to match, then run it under boot camp.

Is right that there aren't any amateur spectroscopic programs for the Mac that I am aware of.

However there are some more sophisticated ones used by the "professionals" which are free:

ESO/MIDAS - ESO - ESO-MIDAS

IRAF - IRAF Project Home Page

I have not used midas although I have used IRAF (on linux) and although it is nowhere near as intuitive to use as Rspec, Vspec.... it is more powerful and there are some comprehensive guides on using it and doing data reduction with it.
