Simple and light mount for NEQ6 tripod?

Hi All,

Obviously, most of the time I use the full NEQ6 Pro mount and tripod with all it's lovely tracking, slewing, goto etc.

But occasionally it would be nice to leave the heavy mount and power in the house and simply have a lightweight mount on the tripod and the scope for visual work. I.e. on those days you just want to spend half an hour having a look about. Scope is a SW 80ED so light enough to not need a lot of counter weight.

Does anybody make such a thing, i.e. a simple Alt-Az mount that fits on the tripod for the NEQ6?

Cheers

Ian

Well for 150-200 you can buy a manual alt-az mount with lightweight tripod too:

First Light Optics - Alt-Azimuth

Just checked, unfortunately the Porta mount heads aren't compatible with the NEQ6 Pro mount. Although the Porta head goes in the hole, the NEQ6 bolt that holds the tripod to the mount is about 4 times too large. I'm assuming the same is true of the Porta II.
