Any stars/planets visible just now ?

Recommended Posts

Well where to start .. the sky is absolutely packed full of stars tonight and most nights , lol , a good source for information is a free program called Stellarium (hope i've spelt it right ) or monthly charts in astronomy mags and so on , Saturn has great placing at the moment. Happy hunting . :D

So Saturn rises in the East at around 8PM on clear nights ?

Sounds about right. I use stellarium and it is one of the best resources to have when observing. For example, I recently 'discovered' the galaxy M5, until I checked on stellarium just what I was looking at, then I realised that maybe the time to phone the Royal Astronomical Society, or whoever it is you ring upon discovery of a new object in the sky, was not then!
