M51 First attempt

Hi all this is one of my first DSO images using unguided skywatcher 250PDS and eq5 pro mount. The camera is canon 350D totally un moded.

have just got a coma corrector so hopefully will make it better can wait to try it out. any help gratefully received

Very nice you have got some good detail in there for your first dso. I took a pic of m51 as my first dso this week as well

How many subs etc do you take

Hi JNC, That was 20 images each at 30s exposure with no dark frames (forgot hehehe) will be doing more soon. would love to see your image

This is the final image all unguided but if you look at my thread you will see it didn't start like this and needed post processing

hi gfletcher, yeh totally agree its really far too heavy for the mount but alas finances would not run to eq6 hopefully will upgrade soon

Great image! Stupid question but how did you image that without star trails if it is unguided?

Hi stargazer, Only using 30s exposures so not getting too much in the way of trails. also spend quite a while doing a really precise alignment including drif. apart from that not sure just lucky hehehe
