Amateur rocket launch in Cambridge this weekend

Recommended Posts

Sorry, it's not strictly astro... but at least it's kinda space related!!

Incase anyone is in the east midlands area this coming weekend (7th/8th May) the second biggest UK amateur/hobby rocketry annual launch event is taking place in Cambridgeshire.

The 'Big EARS' launch event is normally attended by 100+ amateurs and involves launching of everything from tiny model rockets powered by gunpowder motors up to 12ft+ tall 'High Power' vehicles powered by advanced composite solid fuel motors and liquid/solid hybrid engines.

It's normally a pretty cool weekend for spectators if you don't mind standing round in a field during daylight ;-)

Obviously it's somewhat weather dependent and launching may be minimal if there is strong wind or rain, but if you wanna pop along, all are welcome!

Event details here (sorry, hasn't been updated since last years but should be similar:

EARS: Launches: Big EARS 2009

Location details here:

EARS: Launches: Launch Site
