M3 and M81/82

Recommended Posts

The seeing improved on the 25th giving me a chance to try my hand at some more challenging targets. I'm pleased with the view of M3, but had hoped to get some hint of the spiral structure of M81. Would a Barlow help or would that be pushing things a bit too far?

Shot with a 200PDS on an NEQ6 using a Pentax 100D. Five 60 sec subs at ISO 800 plus five darks.

More subs will help, longer if possible but with lost more subs you'll be able to stretch the data a little more and hopefully tease out the spirals. Plenty of mottling visible in M82 though :)
