Can you dither in PHD?

Wondering about noise levels with the DSLR and reading that being able to dither will help the noise a little - Can you dither when guiding in PHD?

Using another app with it yes.. for instance APT can do it...

Dithering is a slight movement of the mount between subs frame or between a group of sub ..followed buy re-locking of the guidestar... it is normally controleld from the capture app as it has to take place between subs..

It helps remove "fixed" noise form the sensor as once the subs have been stacked by aligning the stars the noise being in a different position will be reduced or if you use an "outlier method" removed...

You can dither in PHD together with Nebulosity2 for image capture. It is software from the same author and very nice on if you have supported camera. Peter

Dithering works OK with DSLR from APT.

Remember to turn PHD server on in Tools menu!

Ah, so you need another programme running to be able to do it - Cheers folks. Will see how I get on with the noise then before venturing into other software!!

Thanks for the replies folks. It really is between APT and BackyardEOS at some stage I guess. Will go down that road one day!!!
