Can't focus webcam with reducer attached

Was trying to grab a quick moon picky last night and used a recently acquired reducer. But I can't get it to focus on my metres 72, the focus tube won't go in any further. Do I need to get the reducer nearer to the ccd, using a shorter nosepiece?

Which scope are you using? SCT or a refractor should have required backfocus. Newtonian won't. If you use filter threaded reducer then it has to be on the camera nosepiece (and the nosepiece may not be long).

the 'Reducer to CCD' distance effects focus range, closer to the CCD will reduce the effect, further away increases inward travel requirements.

As I surmised I need a shorter distance between the reducer & ccd. Now to find a shorter nosepiece!!
