I've been trying to image a couple of galaxies per night, one pre and one post flip. On early Saturday morning at 1:30am I changed over to M82, and acquired 63 x 3 mins subs, OSC, totalling 3 hours and 9 minutes of data. Camera: ZWO 2600MC at -10 deg C, gain 100, offset 50 Telescope: Skywatcher 250PX (blue tube), 1200mm F4.7 Mount: Mesu e200 Guiding: ZWO OAGv2, 290MM, PHD2 Filters: None Software: APT for capture, APP and PS for processing I havent really had a chance to get much use out of this camera since I bought it in December, and I havent proce

hello, I have been imaging the California nebula and found that there was a large gradient in the final image. I have now taken some flat frames for the setup and found that the gradient was in all of the photos and took up about 1/3 of the sensor space. I have attached an image of a flat frame to show the issue. I am currently using a skywatcher esprit 100ed with my ASI 294 MC PRO. Between the two of them are, field flattened, ZWO OAG, 2 spacers and ontology l-enhance filter. I have checked down the objective and can see no issues with the alignment up to the filter.

ASIAIR Pro Restoring a backup on Mac
KEJ posted a topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
Restoring a Backup on a Mac Something else I came across and a chap called Terry on Facebook had a solution. Again, you might already know this, but just in case. Backup You buy a new ASIAIR Pro, you are pretty much advised that one of the first things you should do, is to create a backup of your software(includes your license key) from the supplied SD card. And one of the common methods suggested for Mac users is to use the “Apple Pi Baker” program/application. So, I used the application to create my backup and saved it in a safe plac- 3 replies

As I am ready to invest in this new CMOS camera from ZWO the Asi2600mc pro , I am trying to understand why this camera will be better than a DSLR with a filter Infront.... How this camera will give me better images ? I have used DSLR camera some years ago , when I was starting this hobby but after that I have been through mono ccd's , since the time I realized that unfortunately due to lack of time I can not continue with mono imaging and filters.... So I am thinking to give it a try with a brand new, let's say technology of Color CMOS and see what I can get out of it.... I

Hi all, just getting straight to the point. Just got a Rasp Pi 400 (equivalent to Pi4-4GB), and looking to get into guiding through this as it's obviously a popular (and successful) technique. Plan is to have the RPi as mini computer at home, running it with RaspPiOS (supplied on µSD with the full kit), then use it with a SECOND micro SD card for astro - I figure having another SD to run Astroberry (as on SGL) may ignore any issues with the family using the pi for other stuff in the house, giving a stand-alone 'computer' as the OS and files would be available on different SD's. Hi all, After detecting a small fracture on the edge of the protective window of my ASI294MC Pro some time ago, I managed to replace it with a new one. ZWO describes the glass as "ZWO D32 AR" for the ASI294. AR probably stands for anti-reflective, not sure. I was wondering if the glass should be installed pointing in a specific direction, or is the anti-reflection both ways? I'm seeing some halos while pointing at bright stars but could be something else, see attached start image as a reference (a single frame exposure). Thanks in advance for any help. Kind regards,

Note on this issue: A suggestion from another forum seems to have found the problem but I'm not sure. It was suggested that after 3 hours my power tank was drained enough to inhibit the operation of the cooler. I attached my second (smaller) power tank and it seems to be working now. Of course the camera sat for awhile before I was given the idea that power was the issue and decided to try a test with a new power source. If anyone has any additional information or suggestion for me they would be appreciated. Original issue is below: HELP PLEASE! ASI294 MC Pro Stopped cooling Also

Hi Can I please ask, is there anyone out there with the following or a similar setup to this: William Optics Z61 Scope + WO 61A Flattener + ZWO ASI533MC Pro (or other ZWO Camera) ? Currently, I have been using the following setup: William Optics Z61 Scope + WO 61A Flattener + Nikon DSLR However, by the end of the week I am hoping to have this new setup: William Optics Z61 Scope + WO 61A Flattener + ZWO ASI533MC Pro I was really just wondering how the more experienced out there had configured/connected their equipment together? How p

How can I set up APT so that it always connects by default to my imaging camera? I have an irritating problem that APT will regularly connect to my guide camera, even though that camera is already connected in Phd2. I have created two APT shortcuts on the desktop, one specifying camera 2 (which usually is the guidecam) and the other specifying camera 1 (which is usually the imaging camera), but it looks like cameras 1 and 2 are not absolutely assigned to the ASI1600mm (imaging) and ASI290MC (guiding). At APT startup, in the log it will say 'Connected to ASI1600mm' and then imediately

Hi all, Since a few days, I'm the proud owner of the asi1600 Pro. Performed some first tests, see: https://youtu.be/hHJBbpNoi2I I used SGP Pro to test cooling and dark frames (2m and 5m) on unity gain settings. Is it ok to use unity gain (139) setting or should I use high dynamic range? Also, this is my first mono. Do I need to take flats/bias frames for each filter separately? And how could I stack either broadband or narrowband images? I'm used to deep sky stacker. Cheers, Wido

I am imaging with a ZWO 178mc-cooled and am having trouble removing amp glow. I am using darks in the same conditions as lights and stacking and imaging with SharpCap. I am left with a image looking like below. No matter what I do I seem to be always left with this residual amp glow signature, Any ideas out there? Rich

90min HII, 72min [NII], and 80min [OIII] in 2 min subs with the 80mm f/4.4 and ASI1600 MMC camera through 3nm Astrodons. Piggy backed on the 130 f/7 mounted on the DDM60 and encoder guided. Sigma Add stacking in AA5, then gradient removal, alignment and Trichromy with [NII] mapped to Red, HII to Green, and [OIII] to Blue, following the Hubble Palette. Multiple Histogram Stretches, and a Low Pass filter to get rid of some of the noise. The RGB stack needed a serious crop as the [OIII] subs were at a steep angle to the other data, which is a pity as I can see plenty of outlying detail

See below for FLO's opinion of this camera. Received new (from FLO) on 13 January, 2018. Used ONLY TWICE. Reason for sale: The "cooled" version of this camera is being discontinued and FLO were offering their last one at a ridiculously low price, so I purchased that one (for easier OSC DSO imaging), making this camera surplus to requirements. FLO price is £229 (as you can see) + £5.95 delivery, making a total of £234.95. I am offering this barely out of its box camera for £200 including delivery - that's more than 14% less than you would pay for a 7-week younger one. I have been

Setting up all the software on my win10 laptop and getting things to talk to one another is a nightmare. I'm starting a new thread, so I can post all the problems I am having, one at a time, so issues don't get confused. This will also hopefully help anyone coming to similar situations later, as the problems and answers will not be interlaced. First issue: APT does not detect ZWO camera. I have got the camera (ZWO) drivers installed and sharpcap can see it and will connect to it properly. However, when I try to connect the camera in APT, the only CCD options it gives me are SBIG

Thanks for the previous advice folks... So moving on from my first two outings with the ZWO i decided to have a go at Jupiter (see attached) Now before you comment I realise that this is a pretty poor image in lots of ways, however, the purpose of showing it, is that hopefully I'll be able to put another side by side in a fews years showing some progress and understanding regarding imaging? I downloaded several imaging programs yesterday following advice for which I'm grateful. Now some programs look a lot more complicated than others so I ended up using Sharpcam and Registrax3 for m

So here's a thing - it seems to me that astronomy is one of those not very straight forward hobbies. Last night I though it would just be the same as Friday night - set up, look at the moon take some pictures! Simples... Aw but not to be!! I'm good at setting up in the daylight, get my mount bang level (checked with electronic level app on phone...) Get it facing north with my beautiful brass compass and enter coordinates back to Kidderminster from Thame, then you would think just observe... Nah! Moon very wobbly with tinges of green on the edges... Barlowed it a

Hi I have recently purchased a ZWO ASI120MC-S webcam from FLO. I wanted to try it the other night so I decided to get some test images for the moon. I was using Sharpcap for this. I manged to get the video and was using Autostakkert to stack it. On the final stacked image I can see that there are some strange vertical lines. I have attached a picture of that. There is also a zoomed in image of a region and I can see some small squares almost resembling the pixels on the sensor. Below are my capture settings as given by SharpCap.
