If any of you are interested in a star party in East Suffolk, we have been hosting a Star Party every March and October at Hinton, near Saxmundham, Suffolk at a newly developed Caravan and campsite, Haw Wood Farm, for the last 5 years. It is £12 per pitch per night with electricity hook up (adapter needed) call Dan or Georgina (see link below). Some of you here may know about it; on good nights we have had a SQM reading of 21.75 - it can get dark enough to see the Zodiacal Light! Many local society members meet up: Norwich, Castle Point, North Essex, OASI (Orwell), DASH (local) and Breckland among others and it is generally friendly and welcoming (if we can see you in the dark!). Saturday 14th we run an event: a skytour or talks in the cafe, dependent on weather. Unfortunately, timing clashes with the SGL star party but we're a long way from it. Ok guys and girls, I plan to have a small star party/gathering at this location http://www.moorlandscp.co.uk/Moorlands-Park-&-Moorlands-Caravan-&-Camping-Park-Caravan-sites-in-Saddleworth-Caravan-site-Saddleworth.html it is well priced and offers plenty of hook up EHU, with decent facility's and set in a lovely area very high up, here is the good news, i wont ask any one to pay any money to me at all, but i will ask you to make your own bookings, there will be a little light pollution, but the skies if clear should be a whole lot better than most of our back yards, the date is to be confirmed but looking at April, maybe a bank holiday weekend, i need to check for moon and such before confirming. I have had some email correspondence with the owner and they are happy to have a small gathering of Astronomers hold a star party. This will be a very informal gathering, no talks or such like, just an emphasis on observing and maybe a little imaging with like minded folk, it will be limited to 20 people. post if you want to join in please
Although not organised by SGL, it's usual for us to have a thread for SGLers attending - so you can easily find each other and say 'hi'! So, I'll be on Red 354 Mon-Thur and then I think Blue 267 Fri and Sat (yes, that *will* be a pain!!)
