  1. Hello all, I always been fascinated by astronomy and finally purchased a celestron nexstar 8se. Setup went smoothly but I'm a little stuck on the lens. I attached the star diagonal to the telescope and focused in on an object. I was able to see a part of the leaf on the plant in my house and I attached a picture of that. Moving the telescope left and right allowed me to see other things. I then took out the 25mm lens and can see through that when not attached to the telescope. I can see my sandals and feet through the lens and attached a picture of that. I then inserted the 25mm lens into the star diagonal and that's where all hope gets lost. I see white (assuming that's my wall) and yes the cover on the telescope is also off. No matter where I move the telescope. All I see is white. I tried last night in clear skies and pointed towards some clear stars using the skyportal app to align but I didnt see anything except pitch black through the lens. I also played with the focus but nothing. Am I doing something wrong, I would think the 25mm wouldnt be so zoomed in that I cant see anything? Thanks for any help you can provide me. Looking forward to exploring!!
  2. William Optics 2" Dielectric Carbon Fibre Diagonal - Bought new from FLO in April 2020 - Lightly used for a month, but then I got a StellaMira 2" diagonal with my new refractor, and so has sat it in its box since then - Superb, as new condition, in original box. Comes with the original 2” to 1.25” adaptor. It's this one (RRP £135)... https://www.firstlightoptics.com/diagonals/william-optics-2-dielectric-diagonal.html Sold for £99 including UK postage by RM Special Delivery insured. Payment by Bank Transfer (preferred) or PayPal (buyer pays fees). Thanks for looking Gary
  3. I'm impressed by this book and only want a scope for visual observation which gives the North at the top so I can use the star maps in Turn Left. I dont want to go much beyond £150 and wonder if the Skywatcher Startravel refractor AZ3 (80mm lens) would be okay for double star splitting in an urban area? PS> Ive had scopes in the past but am in my 70s now and would only use a scope now and then.
  4. Hi all, I'm becoming a bit of a Moon and Planets visual observer and in consequence, I'm considering an Amici Diagonal. I have read that at high magnification your view can be obscured. That said, I have read that it is of little consequence when using a Mak and a decent diagonal like this one - https://tinyurl.com/y75z4n5v from Baader Planetarium. I'm really keen to make my East East and my West West. Any advice or experience would be welcome
  5. Are there any advantages of using a 2" diagonal with a 1.25" eye piece vs a 1.25" diagonal and 1.25" EP, assuming both are of similar build quality? [Someone asked me this and I gave them my answer, but I wonder what others think]. James
  6. Hi folks. I'm still on the lookout for a 2" dielectric star diagonal for my new SW Equinox. I have a 1.25 with a 2" adapter at the moment but I'm sure some of the wider 2" ep's must be losing FOV. If you are having a clearout get in touch. Thanks Andy

  8. I have a Skywatcher 2" dielectric star diagonal that came with a scope and the side I am holding it the photo has a little play if I move it left right. It is very minor, but it does annoy me. Any idea if I can tighten it somehow? I don't want to force it, but in any case it does not look to me like that side screwes in. Anybody has disassembled theirs and knows how it's held together? And to clean the mirror no such a diagonal, I assume you remove the side panels? TIA
