Hey all, My Celestron 127eq telescope's RA setting circle isn't moving properly with the mount when I try and adjust my RA. It lags behind, seemingly sticking onto the bottom of my mount. What should I do to fix this and get my setting circle right?
Are there any equatorial mounts sturdy enough for a 120 frac, that has RA and decli setting circles? Old school finding and tracking just from data and an atlas - Sky Atlas and Sky Catalogue 2000.0 use. Only the low end SW EQ2 on FLO, thoiugh I might have missed one. Sadly all Vixens seem circle-less.
I have added a setting circle to the top board of my Skyliner 200. I had the graphic printed on vinyl and laminated. I removed the vertical supports , fixed the circle using the centre tube as a guide and then reassembled the mount. (The circle has to be anticlockwise if fixed to the top board) Underneath the bottom board Ive added a ring of ferrous tape , which allows magnets to be attached to the board. The pointer is a magnet with a coloured papercilip hot glued to it. Final picture is the scope complete with Panda shower caps .
I'm having some success using setting circles on my cg4 mount with my omni xlt 120 refractor. By 'some success' I mean they get me in roughly the right place a lot of the time. If I've done a reasonable polar alignment how important is levelling the mount? I observe on my back garden lawn which is a bit uneven and the built in spirit level on the mount seems fairly crude.
