  1. A big thanks to PhotoGav who posted some simple to follow instructions on how to use the stand-a-lone software earlier in his M27 thread. I'll post again, but add that any file names must NOT include spaces. You can instead use a '_'. If (as I do do), you embed your RGB files with a colour profile upon saving, that appears to be fine. How to get the standalone Starnet version to work on the Mac 1. Download the latest version of Starnet for Mac OS from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/starnet/files/v1.1/StarNet_MacOS.zip/download 2. Unzip the folder and place it on your Desktop 3. Save the image that you want to make starless as a 16 bit mono or RGB .tif file *****DO NOT use spaces in file name, instead use _ 4. Place the file in the Starnet folder on your desktop 5. Open Terminal and navigate to the Starnet folder, copy this command: cd ~/Desktop/StarNet_MacOS - into Terminal and hitting Enter 6. Open in Text Editor either the file: 'run_mono_starnet.sh' or 'run_rgb_starnet.sh' depending on whether you are working with a mono or RGB file and edit the filenames in there to be the filename of the file that you want to make starless Save the txt file above in part 6, then.... 7. Drag either 'run_mono_starnet.sh' or 'run_rgb_starnet.sh' onto the Terminal window and you should see the path of the the file appear 8. Make sure that Terminal is the uppermost window and hit enter - Program will run (this can take a while!) 9. When it's finished doing its magic, go to the Starnet folder, open up the _s version of your file and be amazed at the results! I am (amazed), thanks again Gav for posting! Some examples from playing around late this afternoon... the starless colour and mono images straight out of StarNet, no extra processing. I still prefer my images with an embedded star field, but this should be great fun and be rather useful whilst processing... Damian The Ha data
  2. Has anyone upgraded on Mac to "High Sierra" (OS 10.13) and had any issues with PHD2 or using Wine to run DSS, or any camera control software? I'm getting the notifications for the upgrade, but I'm worried some of my AP software (currently running on 10.12) won't work right before a big trip to a dark sky site in 2 weeks.
  3. Looking good for an alpha release on friday.. http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/192900-atik-osx-drivers-r100-example-app/page-6
  4. Almost two months have passed since the alpha 3 release and I've been working behind the scenes on the next driver release.. Beta time! Example Application (standalone) This is a complete, standalone, just use application for your Mac. You'll not need to download or install any drivers - these are already baked into the app. Please note, as the application is not digitally signed, this means OSX will complain if you have not allowed applications you've not downloaded from the Apple store. To resolve this goto System Preferences > Security & Privacy and on the General Tab select the "Anywhere" option from the "Allow applications downloaded from" section - you will need to unlock using the padlock to change this. You may have seen the Alpha3 app - youtube but I've recorded my dulcet tones once again as I use the latest release: http://youtu.be/cmQcx-HuDgI Download the example app here: ExampleApplication.zip With the app, you can use your ATIK camera(s) and EFW2 filter wheel If you have a legacy USB 1.1 camera - please see the additional post below on how to add the FTDI chip id to the application.
  5. Hello, I just finished uploading a new beta version (0.7.0-beta1) of my Planetary Imager application. One of the biggest news of this release is the availability for all major platforms (although OSX users might struggle a bit..). But of course, we also have a few new interesting features, like a network mode (client and server), a new histogram, and profiles support. Please look the official changelog for more information. You can download the packages from the official download page, or grab the sources directly from the github project page (edit: reuploaded Windows package, it had a small directory layout issue preventing startup)
  6. The folks over at Cloudmakers have made an INDI ATIK driver for OSX and Linux supporting 32 and 64 bit. http://www.atik-came...024.msg2971#new
  7. Well - time for some ATIKOSXDriver Alpha3 fun Attached is a zip with the Alpha release of the Example Application that will ship with the OSX Alpha3 drivers. It's incomplete - has some quirks etc but I thought it would be fun for some people The good news is you'll not be able to break anything - there's no drivers to mess up (all self contained), no setpoint cooling so warmup isn't required etc. Also I've deliberately not programmed the drivers to support any flash updates so I can't be blamed for bricked cameras. If it doesn't work - simply restart the app or failing that the camera too. You don't need to install anything - the application is pre-built and ready to run on OSX 10.8. I've recorded a little youtube video to: http://youtu.be/H6tQaOuqP2E which may still be uploading/preparing. There are some limitations (mainly in the app rather than the drivers): * just image preview, capture * no setpoint just yet * no filterwheel just yet * 16IC in this app will only work with mine until I sort out an easier way for you to get your FTDIChipID. The driver limitations: * 4000/11000 are a bit slow initialising.. as the drivers are still being tested. * no unplug handling yet - this is planned for beta1 (next).. Lastly - the software is provided "as is" without fitness of purpose, warrantee or guarantee. By using the software you agree that you will not hold me legally or financially accountable for any damages, disappointment or claim caused by or any other means by it's use. 8. Features (where camera supports) Image exposure Image Binning (up to 3 times in X&Y - this is an artificial limit imposed to shorten automated testing time) Image sub-framing Image preview Setpoint Cooling EFW2 Number of Filters EFW2 Filter selection Camera & Filterwheel Hotplug connect and disconnect Abort exposure time Lots of bug fixes, some improvements too - things such as being able to set the capture location by simply dragging the directory on it.. I should have time over the next few days to finalise the remaining outstanding bits. Experimental Alpha Release (internal) - v0.04 (xx Apr 2013) Changes/Fixes Internal bug fixes and continued restructuring - both for the current and legacy drivers. Added new 490ex series USB codes to current driver Camera and Filterwheel disconnection via thrown ATIKDeviceDisconnectedException Abort exposure/download now works Major improvement for initialisation coping with flushing etc Camera unique identities based on serial numbers etc or bus location USB codes correction - this should pick up 400 series and 16/16C/16HR/16HRC/16ICS series correctly Testing at SGL8: 16HR, 460ex OSC, 314L+ as well as at Olly’s: 11000M, 320E Sorting out of the header files... it’s a little easier - everything should work with one include per driver. Friendly comments in the header files.. documentation! Legacy driver - fixed for exposures less than 1 second Example application - Unlikely to have “unknown” now Example application - File Capture doesn’t show every image but every 10th image Example application - image save location Example application - removed thread race condition (Cocoa binding causing a bypass of my queue..whoops!) So these will have the testing done at SGL8 too :)
  9. I have recently been working on a OSX application so that I can drive my HitecAstro Mount Hub Pro without having to resort to having a Windows VM running on my Mac I now have this working and can detect the hub plugging in/out and also control the switched power outlets and the Heaters . I have also written the code to drive the focus motor but am unable to test this(as I don’t have a focus motor yet :-) !!) Is there any one who has a Mount Hub Pro and who uses a Mac who would become a beta tester for me and who could test the motor control. I am only looking for a small number of testers at present as I do not want to release untested code into the wild. Especially as it drives the focus motor and I do not want to risk having a coding error mis-driving the motor - potentially damaging something. Other than Debugging, the tasks left to do on this project are to add a ‘Red screen’ mode and to build a proper installation package. At that point, it will be ready for general release. Please PM me if you are able to help Many thanks John
  10. Not sure testing follows the .. some old (16IC), something new (383L), something borrowed (11000 & 4000) and something blue (titan).. the circuit board is my skeleton 4000 and finally an EFW2. My weekend is a final hardcore testing session for the OSX drivers I've been writing. The 428ex through 490ex have already been tested and work nicely. Steve at ATIK has kindly loaned me a 11000 and 4000 for testing for the weekend. I'll probably try putting together a through the scope comparison tomorrow .. but for now.. let the testing commence!
  11. If you're an Mac developer that uses ATIK you're going to like this post... Please find attached the Alpha2 OSX Driver frameworks. These are alpha-release and should not be used for production code. Things tested so far: 383L+ mono, Titan mono, 16IC mono and EFW2 filterwheel. These cameras should work with exposures, sub-frames, binning (artificially limited to 3x3 for this release) preview mode, Setpoint cooling/read temps, The support for the Full frame 4000/11000 is experimental. Although I can see the camera goes though the motions to provide an image, as the carcass I have doesn't have a sensor then I can't verify it. However plans are afoot to resolve this And there you have it.. next release should be beta with a few bells and whistles, bug fixes and removal of the mandatory tracing currently provided to your desktop! If you have any issues - please send me the ATIKOSXDrivers.log or ATIKOSXLegacyDrivers.log to me. Merci! ATIK OSX Drivers Alpha2 Release.zip
  12. Almost two months have passed since the Beta 1 release and I've been working behind the scenes on the next driver release.. now with quite a bit of bug fixing Example Application (standalone) This is a complete, standalone, just use application for your Mac. You'll not need to download or install any drivers - these are already baked into the app. Please note, as the application is not digitally signed, this means OSX will complain if you have not allowed applications you've not downloaded from the Apple store. 13. You're probably sick of me.. but this is a big moment for me :) I've released the first full version of the ATIK OSX drivers and the example application :)
  14. Well, hot on the release of the beta one set - I'll be releasing beta 2 with the following (shortly): Changes/Fixes Bugfix: Titan - image now post-processes correctly. Bugfix: All cameras - timing bug introduced with the timing abort was taking the exposure duration as microseconds not milliseconds now fixed. Feature: Titan auto black-level working (enable using driver with example app switch for your playing pleasure!) Enhancement: legacy connect and disconnect is now threaded. Feature: Guide Port support - including a virtual play pad in the example application. Additional tidying and optimisation. I'll also have the subsample and precharge code present in the drivers, so these may make it into the B2.. if not B3 along with the overlapped exposure+download to speed up repeated frame capture.
