    OK, I had pictures of this set of data before... But I experimented a bit more with processing and tried to enhance the outer regions of the nebula. At this point, I have drawn a line in the sand and say: "That is it!" - Promise!
  2. Greeting Astrolings, I'm currently in the process of imaging "the pencil" Nebula, but seeing that it's not clearing my obsy roof until past midnight, I didn't want to waste half of clear nights (since they're rare) so before continuing on the pencil, I did a random frame up on eta Carina and used a random star that popped up in the OAG FOV. I ended up doing this over a couple of nights but last night I had a bout of cloud cover for about an hour... and the Nebula drifted. PHD moved the mount looking for a guide star locking in on some noise and attempting to move it to the guide position. What resulted was, when the clouds passed and a guide star popped up, PHD grabbed it and continued imaging, except that the framing moved 2/3 of the way down... and I ended up with subs for the bottom part of eta Carina. I had plenty of subs from the previous night of the top part, so I created this mosaic... Talk about a accidental 2 pane mosaic!!! Accidently created my first DSO mosaic. This consists of 24 x 300s (top half) and 18 x 300s (bottom half) ISO400 using the modded 40D at the 8SE native focal length of 2032mm. Clear skies. MG
  3. Hello again everyone, Just sharing my latest DSO imaging result... The Carina Nebula, NGC3372. The color image is true color RGB, 4 hours worth of ISO400 7.5 minute subs and the mono image is 4 hours of 20 minute ISO400 subs taken through a 7nm Ha filter using a modded Canon 40D.   4. NGC3372 The Carina nebula is a bright and dark complex nebulosity in the Carina constellation. Took this photo during my stay in Namibia last month. Photo Details: Telescope: ASA ''12 F3.6 Mount: ASA DDM85 Camera: FLI 8300 Mono Ha: 60 min Lum: 80 min Each RGB 15 Min Total: 185 Min (3 Hours). Thanks for watching Haim

Hello all, This is a quickie image that I took to check for changes in the location where I thought I caught a supernova (or some flare) on 9th march that I thought would be of interest to someone. This was imaged in between a meridian flip of imaging another Nebula near the Carina. This is through a focal reducer and imaged at f6.3, 1280mm FL using my 8" SCT. Consists of a dozen 300s and another dozen of 150s ISO800 subs. clear skies, MG

Good evening all, This is the photo of Eta Carina close up in classic Hubble Palette style color I was imaging during the time I captured the point of light on one of the subs where I started the post about thinking I imaged a SN or a GRB. The Carina Nebula (NGC 3372) also known as the Grand Nebula, Great Nebula in Carina, or Eta Carinae Nebula, is a large complex area of bright and dark nebulosity in the constellation Carina. The nebula lies at an estimated distance between 6,500 and 10,000 light-years from Earth. This image was taken across 7 nights in March 2018 through 8nm bandwidth Sulfur II (SII), Hydrogen Alpha (HII) and Oxygen III (OIII) filters and combined where SII is used as the red channel, HII is as the green and OIII is as the blue channel. Taken using a 8" SCT at F10 with a self modded full spectrum Canon 40D DSLR. SHO image exposure time was a total of 30 hours , 24 x 900s and 16 x 1800s SII, 24 x 600s and 24 x 900s HII and 36 x 600s OIII ISO800 subs. The second image is a RGB exposure I squeezed in on the final night before continuing with the final narrowband filter. Basically I set up earlier to image the Carina system well before the meridian flip. RGB image was exposed for a total of 180 minutes, 12 x 600s and 12 x 300s ISO800 subs Thanks for looking.
  7. Not sure if this is really worthy, I was very surprised at how clean the data was for 47minutes total doing a focusing/dithering/guiding/sequencing test in SGP 3. It still lacks some focus which I should be able to correct this week or next as I will have the right flattener for the scope. The only downside is it will also be a reducer as I cannot make the minimum distance for the other scope specific flattener that I have that offers no reduction.
