  1. I've been off today with a list of jobs to do, which I managed to get completed about an hour ago. So I thought I'd tidy up my scope setup and the wiring to everything. My intention was to replace the small Skywatcher losmandy dovetail bar with a longer Altair-Astro one I have, so I can velcro my Lynx astro dew controller and USB hub underneath out of the way, then get a shorter dovetail bar to put on the top to mount my guidescope. So I removed the tube rings from the little SW dovetail and attempted to fix it to the other dovetail only to discover that none of the holes matched up. So I've put everything back as it was and put it outside as it may stay clear here for a few hours. Anyone know what's the best way for me to resolve this issue.
  2. Losmandy G11 head, cables, power box, panel, hand controller, and counter shaft. Good condition, but is just gathering dust in the observatory, as I have another G11 in operation. The reason for the sale, is I want to get a bigger mount, so my other G11, would be for a mobile/second mount. Ive not a clue how to price this, ive done some research, but its very hard to find a second hand price. Mount works very well, used it the other day for some solar observing, and tracked good. Ive used it for imaging, using the shoestring astro GPUSB hub for autoguiding via the hand controller and splitter. It doesn't come with tripod, I brought it straight for the pier in my observatory. Obviously collection only as its heavy, and best to see it working. Asking around the £500 mark, ONO. Any questions ask away...….
  3. Hi, Can someone give an idea of the main diffences between the old Gemini system and the updated losmandy Gemini 2 system, I can read up on the newer version but its a bit vague online for the older version info. Can the older version be completely run off a computer ? Any info will be welcome..............
  4. I'm selling Losmandy GM8 with Gemini 1 GoTo system. The mount has worms changed to Losmandy's 'high precision' ones. There is no tripod. Items included: - GM8 mount head with fitted Gemini motors - Gemini 1 controller with motor cables (SW level 4) - Gemini 1 deluxe hand controller (with 1 line display) - counterweight shaft - 1 counterweight - 13.8V power supply fitted with correct cable & plug - wooden carrying box The price for items listed above is GBP 1800. I'm open to small reduction I prefer local pick up from Newmarket or Cambridge. Shipment can be considered but only with proper insurance. Shipment cost is not included in the price. The mount can also be picked up from AstroFest in London on Feb 10/11. It was also advertised on Astro Buy&Sell and I will close this ad if it sells there first. milosz
  5. Hello guys, Which tripod would you recommend for a Mesu 200? I'm considering the two below options: Losmandy folding HD tripod or Altair Starbase I'm looking for maximum stability for my mobile setup, and of course it doesn't harm if it is quick to set up and looks great. Also the Berlebach Planet comes to mind, but I prefer a metal tripod. Clear skies, Heine Wieben
  6. 2 sets of Losmandy dovetail rings for sale. As per the link here - http://www.losmandy.com/index.html These are the D series ring systems, closest I can find are these references below, mine were bought approx 8 - 9 years ago - DVR 108 DVR 160 Both in excellent condition with only minor scratches and wear marks visible. These are truly great quality pieces of equipment, ideal for mounting small defectors on top of your SCT. £65 ono for the pair of small rings, postage and packing included £75 ono for the pair of larger rings, postage and packing included I also have a losmandy plate for the Celestron C8, fits all Celestron 8 inch OTA's including CPC and HD scopes, unfortunately no riser blocks with the plate. £30 ono for the plate, postage and packing included Paypal and bank transfer welcome. Thanks for looking, Neil.
  7. I am looking for a Losmandy D dovetail bar, long enough, and with the correct hole spacing, to attach two Takahashi clamshell clamps for holding my DL. I know there are bars that are long enough for 1 clamp, but have not found any with length and drillings for 2 clamps end to end. UK/EU preferred, but anywhere known is welcome.
  8. So, my Gemini controller has died on my Titan - looks like a faulty SRAM chip again, and this time I'm not sure if Losmandy have the parts for repair (they did it a couple of years back). This leaves me with a bit of a choice here - I can trade in the defective Gemini 1 for a Gemini 2, or I could look elsewhere. AWR Technologies offer their GOTO controller which apparently can be retrofitted back onto the Titan using belt reduction - this is one alternative option to the Gemini 2. SiTech is another alternative. Does anyone have any thoughts/experiences with the AWR/Sitech systems, comparing to the Gemini 1/2 systems? I like the Gemini 1 - find it easy to use, and unlike many, easy to setup (though it sits in an observatory so it's a one off) - I'd like something with similar capabilities, the onboard mount modelling is good, and the ASCOM driver is a must as I use it for imaging (and plate solving with astrotortilla, etc). Any thoughts much appreciated! Cheers, Graeme
  9. Im after a polar scope for my losmandy G11................
  10. I've got a Losmandy DSBS plate available for sale. This allows someone to mount two scopes with Losmandy D series dovetail plates onto a single mount - note: as this is the old style DSBS you can't use V series dovetails without a V to D adaptor. It has had very little use really, and doubt I will use it with my current plans! £120 includes shipping in mainland UK - collection possible from near Witney (with appropriate reduction). SOLD!! Cheers
  11. For some reason my dec motor on my Losmandy G11 has an intermittent running problem in one direction, runs fine in one way, and sometimes runs the other way, but has started to get worse, and sometimes doesn't run at all................anyone have similar problems??
  12. Having a bit of a clear out. For sale an ADM mini dovetail system for attachment to a C8 but can be used for other telescopes, after the right mounting blocks are purchased - same as this one here - https://www.rothervalleyoptics.co.uk/adm-mini-dovetail-system-guidescope-kit.html Asking £75, new price as its unused - a couple of scratches when fitting to test it but never used in anger - retail is £147. Both sold Revelation Astro 8 inch losmandy plate, with all the required holes for mounting a myriad of rings and scopes - games as these ones here - https://www.telescopehouse.com/revelation-7-9-inch-losmandy-style-d-plate.html Asking £22 for it - again unused and aside a few marks never used - retail is £32. Postage included in all items. Paypal, cheque (items posted when cleared) accepted, bank transfer etc. Please contact me if you have any questions. Clear skies, Neil.
  13. I like the width & sturdiness of Losmandy saddles & dovetail bars. They seem, especially for wide &/or heavier OTAs, better suited with a wider platform and more metal locking on more metal. So was considering one for my Skytee 2 & other mounts to replace the Vixen/SW, which look wimpier by comparison. https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/language/en/info/p4432_Starway-Losmandy-3--dovetail-rail--254mm-length.html https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p10191_TS-Optics-Optics-Losmandy-Level-dovetail-clamp---Length-250-mm.html https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p8517_TS-Optics-Losmandy-level-dovetail-barl-w--flat-surfaces--356-mm-long.html Has anyone switched to Losmandy from Vixen/Celestron/SW on a Skytee or any other mount? I would be grateful for your advice
  14. This is described as: Baader Pan 3 "/ EQ Dual clamp 230mm (for Losmandy and Vixen-standard) Part number is #2451566 It is a very solid and well engineered Losmandy and Vixen Dual standard clamp, 230mm long. The clamping mechanism is very smooth and precise with non-marring brass clamps which provide a very good grip. The clamps can be tightened via an Allen key for additional security. This one is in basically very good condition, functionally excellent but with one or two small nicks here and there. Looking for £120 plus say £2.50 towards P&P via PayPal fees paid or bank transfer. Offering here first and then will put on ABS at the weekend. Thanks, Stu

  17. Hi, Where do I start? My dad was left a Takahashi Mewlon M-210 relector telscope, with a Losmandy GM8 mount with a Losmandy Gemini Systems controller V1. His good friend owned it and we used to go and visit to see the night sky and planets. He used to set it all up and control it using the slightly antiquated Gemini V1 controller. I understand that it's an an expensive setup, but it's not all working. The controller has an SRAM error when booting up, the unit had been left for nearly a year and the battery was flat. Replacing it only gives the error. I guess we have two options, one is to repair the Gemini controller or use something else to control the mount. I have contacted AstroEQ, but I've not had a reply yet. So could someone let me know of some options that would be available to us, ideally at present, only spending a small amount of money would be best to get it working. If we find it's too advanced in rookie hands then it might be best to trade it in for something smaller and easier... Cheers
  18. Hi I am the owner of NEQ6 Pro (belt mod) mount and I am seriously thinking about Losmandy G11. I have already read a lot about outstanding reputation of G11 so I would be grateful if somebody could share with me personal experience. Is there any difference in tracking accuracy beetwen NEQ6 and G11? Some users written about 76 second error (PE) which is typical for this mount (at least in older version) - does new version of Losmandy G11 eliminates this error? And finally, does worth to make the exchange? Below is a screenshot of my last session (M101) where you can see Tracking Error Graph of my NEQ6 - is there space for improvement with G11?
