  1. Hi, What a time I am having with this EQ8, shame it's not a good one. I used the handset to perform the 2 star alignment, then went through the polar alignment routine on 2 different stars, about 3 times each. I got the polar alignment pretty close by using my Atik camera on the PC monitor. The mount continued to track well with the handset, I parked, turned off. Connected EQMOD cable, powered up, unparked, resync'ed encoders and then went to find Capella to sync on to start building my points list in EQMOD. Well once I got to Capella and the Sidereal rate was on, the stars were zipping past on the PC monitor - but hadn't I just polar aligned successfully via the handset? But it felt like the tracking wasn't even on in EQMOD even though it said it was. Has anybody come across this problem? Thanks Daniel
  2. Hi, Bit of a strange one. I have a NEQ6 which I control with EQASOM for imaging using SGP and PHD2 for guiding and have recently replaced the HC connection to the pc with an Lynx Astro FTDI EQdir cable. First time I used it it worked perfectly, it connected straight away, the guiding was good and SGP found the target without any issues. But I tried it again last night and whilst SGP worked perfectly, plate solved the image and moved directly to the target, PHD2 wouldn't connect to the scope. I selected the correct ASCOM mount from phd2 dropdown list but the EQASCOM connected briefly then disconnected with a display saying that it had failed to find the correct port. I tried adjusting the settings next to the mount selection tab and ensured it had pulse guiding selected but still no joy. As a result the phd2 software is not sending guide commands to the mount. The funny thing is that PHD2 will connect to EQASCOM if done so before SGP is connected but then the subsequent connection to SGP fails. But with PHD2 connected on its own its still not sending signals to the mount. Is this a faulty cable or is it a EQDIR driver problem or even an issue with PHD2 or EQASCOM? Any help would be appreciated as I am a loss as to how to rectify the situation. Thanks Dec
  3. Dear All! Please read everything!!! I have a big DEC backlash on my EQ3 mount near to 8000ms, and the pulse guide correction is slow and the 2000ms doesnt enough to correct this issue. So I decided to correct it with this great EQMOD project to add some new code in the backlash correction The plan was to use the slew direction to correct the backlash! WARNING!!!! this code works like the slew controls so its minimally override the DEC coordinates. Installation from zip file: 1. install AQESCOM - final version\EQASCOM_V200j_Setup.exe 2. Copy files from final version\common files\eqcontrl.dll to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ASCOM\Telescope or C:\Program Files\Common Files\ASCOM\Telescope, but make BACKUP first! 3. run EQMOD's toolbox and register eqmod.exe 4. Happy testing. In my case the correction ratio is 800 and duration is 290ms PS. Thank You for the developers to this great project!!! final version.zip
  4. First clear skies in ages. Outside, got everything going and captured my first 2m of data. THEN ... My windoze10 laptop decided it needed to shut down and told me it was "collecting data" to enable it to do so. Well, 2m of imaging data lost, not the end of the world (I thought ... stupid boy!). Just restart everything, do a platesolve, go back to my target and robert is your father's brother (I repeat ... stupid boy!) Everytime I try to reconnect the telescope it tells me that that program is already running. So I try using KillEqascom (both versions) ... program is still running. I unplug the software cable from the mount, reconnect it and ... program is still running .... GRRRR. The one thing it will let me do is start the EQascom simulator ... well it would, wouldn't it? Lot of help that is going to be for the rest of my imaging session. I tried a complete shut down of the laptop and restarting it, reattaching the mount and ... program is still running. HOW DO I GET THE WRETCHED PROGRAM TO STOP RUNNING???? Windoze is not going to tell me anything useful like that!! So, with one of the many clear nights we are all having at the moment ruined, I'm hoping someone here might be able to advise ... I have attached screenprints. One shows what happens when I press the "connect" button. The other shows the result of running Killeqascom. Thanks.
