  1. Hi, As my GoTo is successfully finished (some cosmetic issues remain) I shoud focus my attention on planets' positions. I have proper source of information: fantastic book "Astronomical Algorithms" by Jean Meeus, thus I will sort the planets soon. But planets are not a challenge for me at this moment, they are just something obvious to do in my list. I have another idea and ambitious plan for next project within the year: locating and tracking the ISS to be able to make a video of its fly, not only transition. Similarly to other objects, I need some equations. I'm pretty sure they are available somewhere, because plenty websites or apps offer showing current position of the ISS. I will use this topic for sharing a progress ot the project.
  2. Hi All, If I grab hold of the puck on my AZEQ5 I can make it rock back and forth by a degree or so (DEC axis), there appears to be no play in the RA axis. Does anyone else have this? Can it be adjusted out? Thanks, Neil.
  3. I have a Nexstar+ handset on my AVX and despite reading the manual and scrolling through the options; I cannot find where to search by entering RA & Dec on the handset. Mostly I have been using the Deepsky and Stars sub headings to enter SAO, search Messiers etc but can't find search by RA & Dec can you help please? I can see that you can enter and save targets in User objects by entering and saving RA & Dec... It could be me suffering a sleepy head??
  4. I was wondering, is there an alternative to the ATTH3010 declination unit one could use with the Astrotrac? Counterweight is important, because I'd use a 90/600 APO.
  5. Hi I've set my scope up on it's pier in my ROR observatory, done a few drift aligns and started to take some images. I've noticed a 'quite' regular dip in my DEC line on several nights. Would anyone be able to have a quick scan of my log and offer any insight? Could it be backlash? Could it be something with each rotation of the gears? Faulty tooth? It is quite regular, although not always, and always in the same direction. It doesn't seem to be adversely affecting imaging yet, but I've not tried anything too taxing. Thanks Joe PHD2_GuideLog_2018-09-23_200940.txt
  6. Hi, I'm trying to figure out what is the difference between RA, DEC vs Azimuth, Altitude difference. I watched dozens of videos and read a lot of material and I think I got it all mixed now.:) From what I understand, if I want to find a star using let's say a telescope than I would need to know RA and DEC which I can get from an app or a chart. (Is there a professional way?) But if I want to point at a star as an observer than I would use an Azimuth and Altitude?
  7. For some reason my dec motor on my Losmandy G11 has an intermittent running problem in one direction, runs fine in one way, and sometimes runs the other way, but has started to get worse, and sometimes doesn't run at all................anyone have similar problems??
