Guys just wondering what options are available for me to upgrade the standard SXW Vixen clamp to enable it to accept Losmandy style dovetails. I recently acquired a CGE dovetail that I would like to use with my 8” Edge. Kind Regards Paul

At last, I have 3D printed an adapter to attach an angled viewfinter to the polar telescope finder. This is for the Star Adventurer polar telescope, but I think it fit even others. My document of how I did it: http://www.astrofriend.eu/3d-printing/90degree-polarfinder-adapter/01-90degree-polarfinder-adapter.html It works so perfect compare to my film canister build adapter. This is my first real 3D printed product I will use so I have great times. /Lars

Last adapter I brought was a plastic piece of junk. Please recommend me a good one please. Prefer one that could actually hold up the weight of my phone.

Hi all, I own a NEQ6 mount and EQDirect cable, but the RJ45 version. The NEQ6 uses a DB9 port, so I got an adapter but I need to wire it myself. See attached picture of my adapter + EQDirect. I am quite unsure how to wire my adapter. The first diagram here should tell me how, but I'm still not sure I get it. If I look at the EQDirect adapter (see attached close-up), it looks like on pin 1 & 2, when the diagram says there should be ground there. Also someone in an INDI forum told me I could ignore the 12v pin as it would be supplied by the mount, but the RJ45 actually seems to have som

Hello there! I am almost a noob to telescopes, but in the past weeks I have been watching Mars, Neptune, Saturn etc. But absolutely no look with any galaxy or cluster. And guess what, I LOVE IT! I own a Celeston Nexstar 4SE and a Nikon 3100 but I have no idea what I need to buy to connect them. Something like a T adaptor or I dont know... please help! Also, I would love to use some filters and a wifi for my AUX so I can use the app on my phone. So it woul be great to help with those aswell. I know that my telescope is not very good with nebulas and stuff like that, but I gu

Hello, i got my Cannon 750D few days, and im thinking of buying some adapters so i can connect it to my telescope. Will a T2/1.25 eyepiece projection adapter and a T2/EOS adapter enable me to connect the 2 together? Also im wondering why a piece of plastic and some metal is so expensive :)))). -Ahgi, Clear skies!

Hello! Any idea where I can find an M54 female to M60 male ring adapter? I need to order it online since there arent any astroshops where I live so I'd really appreciate if someone can link me to such an adapter. Basically I have a TS Optics 2" Adapter with compression Ring for Skywatcher Newtonians, TSM54-2 and I need to use it for my celestron newtonian which has a 60mm drawtube so I'll need some sort of adapter. Clear skies!

I have searched SGL for a tutorial incase this has been covered so forgive me if it has. I've also searched the web in general and couldn't find a full tutorial to do this, so i have collated a couple of tutorials that make it work. I have managed to get SkySafari to work with a £32 ish Raspberry Pi3 and the cable that came with my scope with a usb to serial converter - the same things you need for connecting to a PC. It allows me to control the scope using the SkySafari Plus app on my tablet or phone AND it creates a wifi hotspot on the Raspberry Pi so it doesnt have to be on a network t

I just bought a T-ring adapter for my nikon d3000 and want to connect it to my celestron powerseeker 127EQ, I have read some tutorials about focusing but can't understand it clearly.. (English is not my native language and there's no much info in spanish) SO I saw in a video that I can use a barlow lens to achieve focusing but I'm not sure if this works, I have a 3x barlow. Am I missing something? Is there any other piece I'm missing for achieving focus? I have seen many videos where they connect the t-ring to another weird tubes to enlarge everything but I dont know if I need

Hey guys, the dark nights are soon returning here in Denmark! (The major downside of living at 57 latitude) And I am going to be buy a small upgrade, the Skywatcher 150PDS Newtonian. I am going to use it both visually and for astrophotography, hence this version. I do already have the T-ring for my Nikon and a T-adapter, BUT, I wanna know if there is an adapter that provides a better grip on the t-adapter, that is low-profile and fits the Skywatcher? Something like the Baader click-lock? I've always been scared of the telescope dropping my DSLR, when it hangs in weird positions, and would ra

I decided to splash out and buy a Hutech IDAS D1 light pollution filter and purchased one to fit my Baader Coma Corrector. Unfortunatley I have now discovered that the M48 Hutech filter attached to the coma corrector will not fit into the draw tube of my Sywatcher Quattro OTA. The problem is not with the filter; it has a dia of 2" and is no wider than the coma corrector. In the image below you will see the black adapter that screws into the draw tube. The problem is that the inner diameter of the adapter is somewhat larger than 2" whilst the inner diameter of the drawtube itself is smaller

Thought I'd post this here as it may help others with AP900 mounts and Polemaster i made my own adapter to screw into the Polarscope peek hole in the Dec axis casting (my first proper piece of work since getting a lathe - a purchase driven from my astronomy habit and never seeming to have the right adapter despite having two boxes of various adapters!). only used PoleMaster once so far, velcroed and tie strapped to my mount, but it worked great, and this adapter should improve the mounting somewhat!

In preparation for the 1600, I ordered an EOS adapter from FLO, which duly arrived. Having attached it to one of my canon lenses, there appeared to be no way of removing it [There are no instructions included]! There is a small silver screw on the side, which seemed to do nothing no matter how hard I pressed it, or even completely removed it. After an afternoon of emails back and forth with Steve, he came up with the answer. This screw is pushed away from the lens (acting like a small lever rather than a button) to release the lens. Great support from FLO, and am posting in case anyone ru

I am new to this, so my questions may be strange to some... I have a HEQ-5 Pro mount with SynScan and a Skymax 127 scope and a QHY5L II planet-/guide camera. As winters tend to be really harsch in the north of sweden, I plan to sit inside and run the mount from the PC. This will require quite long USB and power cables, but repeater-equipped USB cables are available, so that should not be a problem. To run the mount from a PC, you have to have an adapter from rs232 (9-pin D-sub) to USB first, which I have, but I wish to skip the original RJ11 to RD232cable. Searching eBay

Good day, I own a skywatcher Heq5 pro mount, its awesome! I just realized the AC wire for my AC / DC adapter is broken (see pic 1). I found another AC wire from an old AC adapter and was wondering if this is ok? I see the gauge wire is bigger though and wonder if it matters? I am thinking of cutting near the female adapter and soldering it back to the entire length of wire that came from the laptop adapter even though the gauge is bigger. ( see pic 2). Thank you.

Hello all! I know this build is nothing compared to anything posted on this forum but still I thought it might be fun to share it... (don't laugh lol) I don't usually modify and build stuff, but since my brother won't bring the DSLR until the weekend, I thought I might make a simple iPhone adapter for the fun of it So I found this guide about a great idea on how to make one: http://telescopenewbie.blogspot.co.il/2013/01/iphone-telescope-adapter-smartphone.html I grabbed (and cleaned) a wide plastic bottle cap, and checked if it fits my eyepiece: (it does perfectly) The guide I followed u

Like the title suggests I'm looking for some pier adapter help. I have a concrete pier with an Altair Astro mount adapter fitted to the top. I have recently changed my EQ5 for an NEQ6 which doesn't fit my old adapter. I have contacted Altair Astro who told me it should fit if I turn the adapter upside down but it doesn't (also, then the mounting bolts wouldn't be countersunk) Does anyone know what the difference is between the adapters, the photos on all the websites are a little vague when it comes to these adapters and I've seen them with 4 or 6 anchor bolts - or just which one I need to ord

Hi all, not sure if this is the right place for this, but cannot decide which is the better one.. Here is my problem; I have an old Telephoto lens that is an 86mm achromatic and has a variable focal length of 600 to 1300mm. I have had this years and don't really use it anymore, it's no good for astrophotography as it stands but after some experimenting with various eyepieces jerry rigged in the end of the lens I have found it makes a very good and effective refractor telescope...and as I want a larger finder/secondary scope on my LX90 this would seem to be a good use for old equipment.
