c925 and 294mc pro bin 1 with ir/uv cut filter. 2 panel mosaic best 25% of 1,000 . Had to convert to jpeg as i keep getting an error 200 when trying to upload a larger file. ( 50+ mb ) clicky for full rez. and a few with the 385c camera with neodymium filter and mostly barlowed.

Hello There are observations that will never be forgotten the photos are there to remind them. Friday, February 15 for the first time in months the weather forecast for astronomy are optimistic. The day before I had to work with the 807 infrared filter to fight turbulence but this time the IR 742 passes the turbulence is still there but at times there are details. It improves slowly then at 20:15 quickly the images become much better. I see the scree in Clavius D. Instantly I switch from the IR 742 to the red 610 to enjoy it. I'm a keen moon observer (and new here), primarily using 15x50 Canon image-stabilized binoculars, but also an old 4-inch 'scope that recently broke. I want to take things to the next level and invest in a 'scope powerful enough to study lunar features as the terminator creeps, including craters, mountain ranges, and perhaps even the lunar X, etc. It would be great to have the option of photography in future if that doesn't hugely change what I should buy, but observing is by far my primary goal here. Any suggestions please? Budget is £1.5k+. Thanks! Jamie

National Geographic 90/1250 maksutov is my telescope and thanks for all the replies and support of my previous post it helped me alot and i figured out how to see the moon for example in beautiful quality but there's the problem i have. I can only see good views and a sharp sight of the moon but that's about it. Do i need a better lens that can zoom even more out or is this the limit of my telescope? Please let me know if you know a solution to this.

Hi all, First post on here looking for some telescope buying advise. I've searched and seen some similar topics which have been very useful but thought i'd summarise and see what the experts think. I'm looking at getting myself and my girlfriend a telescope as an anniversary gift. She's not scientifically minded at all but she really likes the aesthetic of the moon. The house is filled with 3D printed moon lamps, jewelry, cushion covers etc.. We're about to move into a new house in Forest Hill in SE London and the new house has a really large garden backing onto more gardens so quit

Hi folks, Just wanted to share my bloodmoon experience with you in this blog. It was quite challenging, ice on my balcony, camera falling out of telescopes and tracking challenges. I've been finding my way slowly around the constellations now for a couple of years, to some extent ☺, however with clear skies becoming rarer and when clear there is usually a bright moon, I'm taking more of an interest in our satellite; but surprisingly I know little of what to look for. Can you good folks give me some suggestions as to how to get the most out of moon viewing, please note I'm not into astrophotography. Think my best scope might be my 127mm Mak but also looking for guidance on best set up, eyepieces, magnification etc

Posting in this forum after too long! One of the first attempts at taking photos of the moon. All photos taken using skywatcher 90mm refractor with eq2 mount, Nikon DSLR and 2x Barlow here and there. No exposure. Basic editing in cellphone. Thank you! Suggestions highly appreciated!

Hi, included some images of April 12th. One image of Vallis Alpes, witht he large craters Arsitoteles and Eudoxus. Rima Hyginus, with lower in the image Triesnecker and Rimae Triesneckes to the right of it. The Apennines. A large mountain range. This is a two panel mosaic. and last byt not least a high res image of the lunar terminator from the Large crater Ptolemaeus all the way to the South pole. All images made using CFF CC300 f/20 and asi 174MM at prime focus. An Astronomik proplanet 807 filter was used to stabilize seeing. Enjoy the images, and feel free

Second time I undertake this kind of endeavour. Many many movies were shot. Over 300Gb of data. Stitching was done by hand. in adobe Photoshop. Equipment used: CFF 300f//20 cassegrain ASI174MM with Astronomik proplanet807 processing using Autostakkert, lynkeos and adobe photoshop. An image of the mighty Clavius. One of the larger craters at 225KM in diameter. A very impressive walled plain that contains an arc of addition craters diminishing is size from 55KM (Rutherford) down to 12KM (Clavius J). Moretus is further towards the pole, and is around 114KM. It has a great central peak rising to 2700m) and numerous terraces. The tops of other craters can be seen towards the horizon, and the south lunar pole. A shot of Tycho (to go with the other close up) and an exaggerated partial view of the ray system that surrounds this young formation (you can see the lines of ejecta material which form the rays moving away radially from the crater). This image was captured on the 28th December at 19:12:57 and comprised of a single capture of 2063 frames, of which only 236 were used in the stack. It was captured using a ZWO174mm camera (with a 642IRBP filter), and a televue x2 barlow). This was mounted on a Celestron Edge1100HD, in turn held on a Celestron CGEMDX mount. One of a few shots of Tycho that were ok. One of the youngest formations on the surface (in terms of millions of years), it is one of the brighter objects to image. at 52KM its not the largest of course, but it has made quite an impact on our local neighbour. The crater is starting point of the largest ray system on the surface, and is easily seen in binoculars. This image was captured on the 28th December at 18:31:56 and comprised of a single capture of 3080 frames, of which only 285 were used in the stack. My attempt at capturing an image of the moon at perigee early last week (2018-01-02). Imaged with an iPhone 6 through a Celestron K10mm eyepiece with a moon filter, using a Celestron AstroMaster 130EQ-MD. Image was taken in burst mode with a 2-sec timer to avoid camera shake. As there haven’t been too many clear nights lately, when I saw the cloudless sky yesterday I decided to get a scope out and spend some time observing. With the moon near full it seemed the obvious target. I also wanted to make a start on some sketching which I’d promised myself I would try again this year. I’m glad I did, conditions were great, there was no wind, no dew and the seeing was really good and I was amazed how steady the image was as I upped the magnification to around 300x in the end. I have a Celestron 127EQ PowerSeeker Telescope and was wondering if a moon filter is required to prevent any damage to the eyes for the coming super blue blood moon. Or are the filters purely optional when it comes to anything moon related? Thank you

One night after complaining on the forums that observing opportunities are so few and far between in the UK during winter and I look up to see clear skies and a blindingly bright moon. My preferred targets are DSOs but having recently bought a Baader Neutral Density Moon filter (0.9) I thought it might be a great time to try it out. I'd also recently bought that thingy that lets you attach your phone to the eyepiece and so I took the picture below and I'm fairly pleased with the result.
