  1. Is it possible to get an extension lead for the handset of the Celestron Advanced GT mount? Thanks James
  2. Looking for a Celestron (made by Vixen) circle V 32mm ERFLE eye piece or a Vixen own branded one. The Celestron was silver with orange lettering. 1.25 inch 31.7mm fit. Vixen own could be 31.7mm or 36.4mm screw fit (which I would prefer). Cash or swap for another ep perhaps.
  3. Hi, I recently bought Celestron Astromaster 130 EQ and I am new to astrophotography. I have Nikon D3100 and I got a T-ring and a T-adapter to get started with it but my dslr doesn't focus at all! It is really heartbreaking Can anyone please help me out with this problem? Maira
  4. I'm happy owner of 25×100 CELESTRON binos, i want to know : a) is really an improvement to use grey filter for lunar observation ? b)is it possible to screw filter on these oculars ? Thanks for your help.
  5. Ok this might be a stupid question but I own the Nexstar Evo 9.25' and as much as I love the scope I'm getting more ambitious with my astrophotography. My big problem is my FOV. Even with a focal reducer it's a struggle to fit the larger targets into the shot. My question is whether I could get a smaller OTA without needing a different mount. Would I be limited to SCTs or would I be able to get a refractor on there? Thanks
  6. Found an old (apparently USA model) celestron C8 SCT a while back, its a bit hit n miss with collimation and the optics - (some very strange star test shapes :P) but when it works it works well Here is a couple images from a couple months back. Thanks for looking. This particular night seeing was reasonably good, and collimation wasn't too bad either. Celestron C8 / ASI120MC / 2X barlow - captured in sharpcap2, stacked in autostakkert!2, wavelets in registax6
  7. Iphone 5/5s phone adapter that attaches your iphone to Celestron X-Cel LX eyepieces (may work with other eyepieces and phones). This adapter is hard to get hold of now and believe it or not cost me £50!! I've included a couple of photos taken using this adapter to show how good it is. £25 posted (fees paid via Paypal).

  9. Hi everyone, I just bought my first telescope, a Celestron NexStar C8, and have been having a wonderful time learning to use it. I bought it used, and it came with enough accessories to get me going. However, I have recently been searching for nebula filters, and have learned a lot about both filters and eyepieces from reading through the forums. My question is this: My scope came with a set of eyepieces (the Celestron eyepiece case, 1.5") and a couple others that are 1.5" as well. As I began researching eyepieces, I see that it is common to have 2" sizes as well. Would my scope accommodate a 2" eyepiece? If so, are there any benefits to me using a larger eyepiece? The 1.5" filters and eyepieces are a little less pricey, but if I can increase my scope's performance through using 2" eyepieces I will strongly consider doing so. Thanks for any and all info!
  10. Made for Celestron's Regal M2 spotting scopes, but with an eye relief of 32mm advertised. Has anyone got this on a Celestron spotting scope of tried it for astronomy?
  11. Read much on Celestron but not so much on Meade these days. How do the big 2 compare and with other SCT makes?
  12. Selling my celestron starsense auto align...mint condition..used only a few times but now got my eye on a polemaster as it would suit my needs better I think.. £200..
  13. Hello All, I am new to this forum and find this forum extremely useful. I have gone through almost all the threads requesting advice on the binoculars for stargazing and hopefully I will not frustrate someone for this additional thread. I live near San Francisco, CA, USA and in my early 30s. I am planning a trip to Bryce Canyon in 2 months. That place is supposed have very less light pollution and is recommended for Astronomy/Stargazing. I have bought the Sky Safari 5 android app to get me started into astronomy and hopefully I will continue this as a hobby for a long time to come. I have decided to buy 10x50 bins and have found few of these below that are in my sub $99.99 range. I am looking for the best value for the $$ in this range. I will be carrying them in flight and will not be able to baby sit them. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/421389-REG/Bushnell_120150_10x50_Legacy_WP_Binocular.html - $84.99 - BaK-4 - Fully Multi Coated - Waterproof - Fogproof https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/917674-REG/celestron_71424_10x50_cavalry_binocular.html - $89.95 - BaK-4 - Fully Multi Coated - Waterproof - Fogproof - Nitrogen Filled https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1086598-REG/celestron_71362_10x50_landscout_binocular.html - $74.95 - BAK4 - Fully Multi Coated - Waterproof - Fogproof - Nitrogen Filled http://www.getolympus.com/us/en/binoculars/trooper-10-x-50-dps.html - $69.99 -($20 coupon) - BK-7 http://www.telescope.com/Binoculars/Astronomy-Binoculars/Orion-Scenix-10x50-Wide-Angle-Binoculars/pc/-1/c/5/sc/72/p/9333.uts - $102.99 - BAK-4 - Multi Coated (Considering because I read some reviews about quality optics and wider field of view) Please let me know your recommendations, if you have any. Thanks a lot
  14. Hello I need your expert advise and opinions please. I currently have a Sky-watcher 114 telescope which has served me well for the few years I've had it, but I've always had trouble with balancing, aligning and generally finding the more difficult things in the night sky. So I feel now is the time to upgrade to a goto telescope as I am keen to take up astrophotography and image and share what I'm seeing. My theory is that if I have a computerised / goto telescope and mount, I would spend less time setting up and more time enjoying the night sky. I have between £400 - £650 to spend I've done some research and I have come up with a few options but also welcome any suggestions you all come up with which I haven't thought of already. I await your wisdom
  15. I recently got a Celestron Omni XLT 150 Newtonian reflector telescope and it came with a 25mm eyepiece and whenever I've tried using it all I see is a dark center with a faint white light surrounding it. I've pointed it at Mars, Jupiter, and several stars and this is all I see. I've also collimated it so am I doing something wrong or is something wrong with the telescope or eyepiece?
  16. I'm a complete noob with imaging but am really methodical in approaching any hobby I pick up so I'm hoping that with a little practice I can someday take some amazing images for my own enjoyment. Currently I'm having no end of trouble with my scope setup and was hoping someone could shed some light on what MIGHT be going on here. I have a Nexstar 6se which uses spur gears I realize, but it's what I have. I'm using a celestron 6/8se wedge on a cpc 1100 tripod which makes for a rock solid platform for this modest scope. Movement calms down with this setup in under a second so I'm confident it's not the mount. The problem though, when I get my camera on the scope, get things focused as well as I can without a mask (i'm working on getting one 3d printed), I'm getting trails no matter what I do! I'm polar aligned, making very sure to use a high power eyepiece and really spend the time to line up my mount. Any image longer than about 20 seconds however exhibit trails! I've adjusted the backlash controls from 0 to 50 in 5 unit increments with no discernible results. I've used A/C power as well as a 12 volt 20amp/hr battery so I don't believe it to be power related. This setup, with the heavy tripod, the wedge, a decent computerized mount should allow me to image for a couple of minutes at least in my mind, but I cannot get it to work properly for even super short exposures! I'm wondering if this is something that can be adjusted with the mounts clutch or some other trick to get things working how they should. The images I've attached show an extreme amount of error in tracking and I'm beginning to wonder if my particular mount is just not going to work no matter what! The "trailing 3" image is of Albireo and you can see that the stars below this double are doubled themselves, meaning to me that the mount is skipping or jumping partway through the exposure (45 seconds in this case) Any help would be awesome.
  17. Hi - Was wondering if anyone could help me? I've recieved a second hand Orange C8 but it has a rotating secondary. It just spins around in the corrector plate with about .5 mm wiggle room. To make things worse I think the previous owner has attempted to remove the corrector at some stage so I'm not sure what to do. I know I have to align all 3 optical elements but not the foggest where to start. The corrector appears to have two lines etched on the edge at right angles. Say 12 and 3 O'clock - but dont know if this is 11 or 2 O'clock or what ever configuration. I can not discern an corresponding marks on the tube body or down at bottom on the mirror. Ant
  18. Inspired, as usual by Gina's exploits with a Raspberry Pi and Indi I decided to have a go myself. I have ordered an RPi 3 and await arrival. In the meantime I decided to modify a cheap 28BYJ-48 stepper motor for bipolar operation following Gina's instructions. Then I tested the motor with a Pololu A4988 stepper driver I had left over from my 3D printer build using details I found here and it worked first time. I needed a 12V supply to drive the 5V motor as now the windings are being used in series. Once the Pi arrives I will be installing Raspbian, Indi and connecting up to my Nexstar 127 SLT and then building a new focuser using my existing sketch and the motor I modded today.
  19. Can someone help me understand how to use the right Ascension setting ring and vernier scale on my CG-4 GEM from Celestron. Thanks

  22. Hi does anyone use 'Skywire' via Skysafari to control a Celestron Evolution with the starsence accessory fitted? My queries are these: What is the maximum cable length that can be used and are there any suppliers? and does Skysafari recognise the starsence accessory for initial Goto alignment ? Thanks people Bill (Williamnohair)
  23. When using my telescope, a Celestron power seeker 127 Eq, one of my slow motion handles keeps getting stuck and won't move the telescope, does anyone know what the issue could be?
