I know there will be a learning curve with new camera setup, My area of interest is/would be Nebulae and Galaxie

Hello, I am pretty new to this forum. Well, have been following it for quite a while but this is the first time I am writing something. I am selling my ASI 1600MM Pro that I bought from FLO on February 2020. It has been a great camera, and even with my Celestron NexStar 8SE scope and Bortle Class 8, it gave me great results. It doesn't have any mechanical or other problem, the reason I am selling this is to move to a new camera Let me know if you are interested in. The price I have in my mind is £1000. Here are some pictures I took w

I currently have a Canon T6 with a Opteka 500mm f8 lens ($87) that I use for lunar and solar photography. I recently purchased a full frame Canon EOS R and am thinking about getting a 800mm f11 Canon RF lens ($899). Will the quality on the new canon lens be significantly better than my Opteka lens? Is it worth the upgrade? Also, should I use my new full frame or my crop sensor (1.6 factor) to shoot? I want to get the best quality possible.

Hi everyone, What camera would you recommend to use with my Celestron SCT 9.25” ? I would prefer a proper astrophotography camera rather than a DSLR. I already have a focal reducer and would mostly want deep sky if possible (although my telescope may be too high mag for that), but would also enjoy planetary. Any advice would be great guys. Many thanks! Paul

I'm trying to get a photo of Jupiter and Saturn with my Nikon D3000 DSLR but I can't get anything clear. I attached the kind of photos I'm getting with my camera. They end up being too bright and no distinguishable features show up. Is it even possible for my Nikon to get photos of planetary objects like Saturn and Jupiter?

Hi everyone, it has been a long time since I posted anything here. Does any one know the best way to connect a digital camera to a Zeiss Telementor 2. I have this great telescope and a great camera but I really need some guidance with how to connect the two together. All help and advice gratefully accepted. THANKS

Hi All, I wonder if someone can please help, I'm fairly new to astrophotography and confused about aperture. Basically I'm looking at a Canon EF-S 55-250mm lens. It has the specs f4-f5.6 does this mean that the lowest point of aperture possible is F5.6 or will it go lower. What I find confusing is that I have a lens that's the EF-S 18-55mm lens which has the specs of f/3.5/5.6 however My camera does allow me to set the aperture at f/8 The reason I ask cause it is advised to use a low aperture of f/8 to capture images of the moon. Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Recently i bought this brand new camera from David Hardie when he was doing a big sell out of some really nice items in excellent offers !!! Unfortunately the camera although brand new doesn't serve my purposes so I decided to sell it at exactly the same price which I bought it from David , it was a really special offer The camera new costs £1685 and I will sell it for £750 to be fair.... Camera comes with all its extras and case in absolutely brand new condition....!!!! Info from FLO site : https://www.firstlightoptics.com/starlight-xpress-cameras/starlight-xpress

Hi, I bought my first telescope, SW 150pds about 6 months ago with the purpose of astroimaging "when i feel ready". So far ive used my Nikon D810 for that, and I'm now planning on taking the step buying my first AP camera. My targets would be DSO's, and not planetary. I want a mono-camera, not color. I want to get away with a very good camera to a reasonable price (wouldn't we all...) and in this regard I've been drooling on the ZWO ASI 1600MM Mono for some time. The price for it is in the upper part of my budget, but I'm willing to if its worth it. I've seen from other treads th

Hiya, have absolutely no idea where to begin finding a camera for Astrophotography. And by that I mean - I know I want a canon but am unsure which to buy. It will be a second hand one. Does it need to be full frame ? Can any and all models be modified ? Is a higher pixel count the way to go ? What are the important things to look for in a DSLR ? any help would be great. Thanks Neil

I've just bought a Daystar Solar Scout 60mm DS for H-alpha imaging of the Sun. I am now looking for a suitable camera to use with it. I know I could use my DSLR, but for H-alpha that is not going to give best results, so am looking for a dedicated monochrome imaging camera. I have identified the ZWO ASI178MM as a possibility that fits my budget and has a large enough (I think) sensor to image the entire Solar disc if I use a 0.5 focal reducer which will give me a total focal length of 465 mm. Does anyone have any experience of this camera in this application, or know if it will be suitabl

Hi, this question has probably been done to death here, but can I ask the community to help me decide on a new camera? After struggling with my very glitchy QHY5LIIc camera for a while, as well as having a forced break from astronomy, I have decided to get a new camera. After all the problems I've been having with the QHY, I really don't want to use this manufacturer again. I know lots of people use them quite happily, but once bitten ... I have been looking at the ZWO cameras - OSC, as I haven't the time, clear skies, or patients to do LRGB imaging! I have about £250 to spend,

I have discovered that the Nexstar+ handset of my CPC800 has a Camera sub-menu, apparently for controlling a camera. This is not documented in the CPC800 manuals and I could not find any instructions online. All I found on the Celestron website was a picture of a C8 SE with a camera attached and a cable leading from the camera to the aux port. Has anyone used this feature, or have some instructions? Is it really useful for anything?

Hello. I am using a Orion xt8 reflector telescope. I am wondering what optic / eyepiece set up I should be using for a mix of DSO and planets. I have a couple pictures which I have taken with honestly my cell phone on one of those (Omi cellphone adaptors for telescope) and they pictures don't come out to bad... but I am looking for something that I can actually put into the eye piece that will give decent looking pictures, or even one that I can hook up to my computer and look through it live. Price really is not the biggest issue but not really looking for something over $400. I know there mi

I have no idea how this stacks up to other cameras, but I figured I’d post this new camera from Meade for those imagers out there. https://www.meade.com/accessories/cameras/deep-sky-imager-dsi-iv/deep-sky-imager-iv-dsi-iv-color.html

Can anyone identify this Orion camera and perhaps provide me with a digital copy (or link) for the user guide? I got this and it has no part number or any unique identifier to help me locate the documentation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, Since a few days, I'm the proud owner of the asi1600 Pro. Performed some first tests, see: https://youtu.be/hHJBbpNoi2I I used SGP Pro to test cooling and dark frames (2m and 5m) on unity gain settings. Is it ok to use unity gain (139) setting or should I use high dynamic range? Also, this is my first mono. Do I need to take flats/bias frames for each filter separately? And how could I stack either broadband or narrowband images? I'm used to deep sky stacker. Cheers, Wido

Newb here. I have settled on my first telescope being the 4SE or 6SE and I have a Sony Alpha 300 DSLR I would like to be able to connect to play around with AP. I am barely starting to grasp the terminology involved with telescopes in general but it seems connecting a camera to a telescope is a whole different ball game. It seems as though the 4SE has a separate eyepiece and camera attachment? Looks like you can just flip a knob to swap between the viewer and camera? Whereas the 6SE it appears that you have to remove the whole eyepiece to connect the camera. After reading some reviews eve
