This helped me answer some of the questions I have on my "new" ETX Autostar" Thanks. GRP362 -
Got a gift of a used Meade Telescope, a bunch of eyepieces and a Heavy Duty tripod and would like to do some viewing with it. It seems to work - cleaned the electrical contacts and the connections (lots of green oxide), took off the base and removed some heavy grease sludge on gears per Jordan Blessing's online guide, put in new batteries and the handheld controller seems to work - drives both axes, multiple speeds. The ETX Autostar seems to be defunct, however, display shows only weird red led patterns. Does anyone have any suggestions as how to easily test the equatorial drive? Fix the Autostar? Any other recommendations or ideas? Thanks in advance. GRP362
