From the album: moon
managed this, but not clear an just make out the bands, had to photo shop it!! it seems when you go on a barlow and fast shutter speed, because you have to lower the exposure the image either streaks or dull. i need mirror lock up on the eos 300d!! or a decent web cam. -

Had scope out last night evostar 120 eq5 (left avatar) 1st viewing, clear night for a change, the moon was blearing!! coming up in the east, i sneaked out of house at 11.00pm dragged the eq5 out on to the launch pad, got the scope on with a bit of fumbling on the dove tail!! had a go on Cassiopeia high in east, double cluster ngc 957 and....wow always impresses me this, took a while to orientate it though the up side down finder scope!! which was awkward to look though has the star diagonal was in the way had to keep moving it on the locking collar, so i could get my head in. had a go at m1o1 above pan handle but still not seen, even had the galaxy ace phone up with google star map, which is very good and accurate. no luck. looked at perseus which always reminds me of a saxaphone (not tonight though! and then up to auriga, hoping for m37 38 but too low in sky obscured by a tree, had a go on moon wow it was blinding though the evo, out with moon filter, and.......the wow factor really crisp and sharp good detail, still a bit blinding though. by this time it was 1pm and i was tired and fumbling around dropping things now, the £20 light pollution filter ended up in the grass, found that so decided to pack up, took me nearly half hour to put the scope away and other stuff. and crawed off in too my warm bed. -
Having broke my back laying the base, joke, tried the EQ5 on tonight and one of the legs are hanging over!! can you believe it. Mind you some one did comment on " it don`t look like it will fit" DOH!! All his not lost!! i have a cunning plan!! i have been toying with the idea of building a brick pillar mount., Because i did not fancy dragging the heavy pod and eq 5 head out. watch this space! ive abandoned the brick pier job it was unstable at that height and looked like a chimney stack!! right ive cut a hole in the cement and dug out 12 inch and concreted a scaffold pole in, being lazy and short on building supplies, thought i would use it. right next plan is to put this box on top of the scaffold pole 50mm and bolt it, also going to put the pier on it . and this on a double pier with theses plates, the black ones about 8mm thick, a bit of welding required.

i have decided to build a pier for the lump!! so watch this space!! a brick job might be the thing.

nice full moon rising in east, bit of a orange glow, but soon went to white bright has it got higher set up the mak 90mm in back spare bedroom put eos 300 on and shot a few frames, the moon dont half shift and climb, ahh i have a eq1 motor which i put on iv`e had it a while but not used it ,now then getting the speed right was a little tricky, i did wonder if they actually work! and yes it does ! on the note of the new scope evoststar 120 not tried it yet, the Eq5 weighs a ton! hmm i may have to make a pier for it! don`t fancy dragging that pod outside all the time. thinking cap on . the secon image 002 has some object going across face of moon dont know if it was aircraft or progress 47p? has this has been due over, it was 9.30 ish when i took these.

Got the new scope today, ordered Friday, got this am via fed x , good service fro FLO thanks martin. Now hope for some clear sky's, had a play at some chimney pots to align star finder scope, optics are very crisp and clear!! I don think the wife was impressed with the size!! with a comment "where you gona put that!!" tutting and shaking her head, "it was either this or a 10 inch dob!! i said" mind you the mount and head weighs a ton!! i already have a bad back!! just started with. I call the sky watcher OTA THE BAZOOKA. i have made a viewing platform which a cemented on Sunday hence the bad back, just needs base to harden off now.
-
After much deliberation between the sky-watcher skyliner dob 8 inch or 10, ive opted for the sky-watcher evo-star 120 on eq5, i know people say go for aperture but its storing yet another scope, and its size will be massive so ive read, iv`e had one of theses evo`s before and i sold it ,has i did not have a suitable mount for it. i could not afford it. i regretted selling it.
