  4. Wow what a shot! That's incredible. What scopes and mounts were you using to capture this wonderful image?
  5. Sorted! I installed the CCD UI available from AA website. That solved it. Only now I'm experiencing a new problem as follows.. Until yesterday I could connect the Atik 314L+ and control it. But now when I start up AstroArt and connect the camera AstroArt freezes - it's un-killable by Windows 7, and the only way to get rid of it is to reboot. The freeze happens when I click "check CCD" in AstrArt, and the software freezes before the settings box ever appears. The weird thing is if I then start up a *second* AstroArt instance eveything is fine. The first one is still frozen in the background, but the attempts to connect to the CCD but states that it cannot connect as it is already in use. If I forget about AstroArt and run Artemis Diagnostics, exactly the same thing happens - the first instance freezes on connect, but the second instance works. It is frustrating as to why it has just started happening now.
  6. Hi Olly, I am running win7, what are the file names of the ini files you speak about?
  7. Hi Merlin, I'm still looking into this. The procedure you described is exactly how I installed the filter wheel. I have the latest NetFrame installed and the latest Ascom drivers including its update installed. I have installed the drivers for the filter wheel and the Atik-Ascom application for connecting the filter wheel. The filter wheel connects fine and I can control it through that simple atik-ascom application. However, when the Atik 314L+ or the Atik Titan is connected I go and choose the filter wheel from the drop down list in astroart, but neither Atik nor Ascom filter wheel is showing up. In the drop down list there are a number of filter wheels. These include S-big, true wheel, honeymre and simulator. I didn’t install these filter wheels. I’m assuming these are default? I downloaded and installed the Atik filter wheel plugin for Astroart linked from their website but they do not show up in any of Astroart directories. However, a friend suggested that because I didn’t originally install Astroart to it’s default location ie. C:/Program Files/Astroart, but to another directory instead, that the problem very well lye there. So I tried this out and uninstalled astroart, installed it to its default directory but still no joy. Have you any ideas?
  8. Hello, I have just purchased an electronic Atik filter wheel. I want to control it with Astroart. However, I am having trouble. I have installed the drivers, downloaded and installed the plugins from the Astroart website, loaded them into astroart folder and installed the Artemis CCD with them too. When I click on plugins in Astroart, I choose filterwheels and it just isn't showing up in the drop down menu... What am I doing wrong?? PS. I also installed my new Atik Titan too and that seems to be working. It's showing up as Artemishsc.. But whats Artemishsc?? Please help me, it is soo frustrating! Karl

  10. Hi Spaceboy, I have been using a netbook for a while and the DMK firewire worked fine with my netbook. Not a dickie bird wrong with it. I have a firewire to usb adapter which I was using, but now that I have sold my DMK I am actually going to sell the adapter too.
  11. Very good, I have done this method before and it works very well. I have my scope pointing north. For the first alignment star I loosen the two clutches and manually pan the scope around to a bright star in the west, in the summer time I used Arcturus in the west. Once I had it bang on in the centre of the 15 mm eyepiece using the latitude adjustments aswell I locked the clutches. Then I'd choose the second star and let the telescope slew to that star. And voila, it would appear in the 32 mm eyepiece, I'd centre it and choose third star and then calibration stars. I have found that if you repeat the process again you tighten the accuracy.
  12. What sort of grating is it that is in the L200? Is it a ruled reflection grating or is it a holographic grating? Also where could I pick up spare and additional higher resolution gratings?
  13. Hey guys, I have just assembled the L200 and she is an absolute beauty! I have a question, I have a 400D SLR and I'm interested in modifying it. Is it a good idea to use a modified DLSR for shooting the spectra thought the spectroscope? Removing the filter would allow Halpha to pass, thus increasing the signal. Are there any side effects to using a modified camera for shooting spectra?
  14. Hello everyone, Has anyone modified their Canon 400D here? There seems to be a lack of online tutorials for modifying the 400D. Could someone please point me in the direction of a modification 400D tutorial? Modification, as in removing the IR filter. Thanks, flyer
