    Hello.

    Hello John welcome to SGL.

  3. Hello Derek and welcome.
  4. Stocks of telescopes at the moment are very low, you might think about getting an order in soon. +1 for the above recommendation. Welcome to the forum by the way
  5. Hello and a very warm welcome to SGL.
  6. This forum has a for sale section but you could also take some pictures and post on https://www.astrobuysell.com/uk/
  7. Welcome to SGL, Can we know which telescope you have?
  8. To add to the above post. Planets are a long way from us and you should not expect to see large objects in your telescope. Concentrate on getting clear images instead. The fun is in the chase. Good hunting.

Hello welcome to SGL. You most likely have a very basic red dot finder and there are better options for navigating the night sky. Have you aligned the red dot finder to your scope correctly? Remember it's only used to point your scope at things you can see. For things you cannot see unaided you need to navigate to the correct area of the sky and for that you could do worse than getting a copy of 'Turn left at Orion' which will give a lot of good tips for navigating the night sky with useful information about what you can see. Take a look at the forum sponsor at the top of each page, FLO will offer alternative finders you may find easier to use.

    Hello

    Hello and welcome to SGL?
  11. Good to have you join George. You couldn't put a shed up for me could you?
  12. Good to have you here welcome to SGL.
  13. Hello and welcome to SGL
  14. Welcome back, 26 year survivor here if you'd like to chat anytime.
  15. Hello welcome to SGL. I have astigmatism and often view with my specs off, I'd advise trying an eyepiece and seeing if she has difficulty before seeking a solution to a problem she may not have. I recently bought my second filter and again I'd recommend waiting before rushing into buying sets of filters you may never use. Astronomy can be an expensive hobby so go slowly and just purchase what you need in the first instance.
  16. As we know Mars is currently nearing opposition and I try to view it as often as possible, however it's so bright I'm unable to see much detail so my thoughts have been turning to filters. What can I try to make the best of Mars this year?
  17. It's normal for the the moon and planets to move out of the field of view quickly as you describe when manually tracking. Get the focus right first then with your eye at the eyepiece you should be able keep the target in the field of view with the controller. Adjust the slew rate to help make this easier. Or align the telescope and let the tracking take care of it for you.
  18. They are both very fine eyepieces the differences are likely to be dependant on the individual.
  19. Hi David, welcome to SGL. Regarding instructions for the site, just have a click around and explore it will become clear very quickly.
