  1. I've had both, the comments above are spot on but I would add the viewing experience is much better with the 8SE particularly with a low mag (30mm+) 2 inch eyepiece

The wobble is quite noticeable when focusing and if it's windy, the goto mount is OK but really needs something more substantial if I'm honest, it's on my shopping list anyway.

The problem is supply in time for Christmas, Covid has played havoc with the supply chain. You might be better looking at the classifieds and trying to find something secondhand.

The for sale forum here is good and you could take a look at 'Astro Buy and Sell' too, then there is always the bay of dreams but you'll need to be careful there.

Good luck though, it is a wonderful hobby when we get clear skies!

  3. Covid has played havoc with the astronomy supply chain and they are in very short supply right now. I buy all my equipment secondhand to increase my bang for buck so to speak, equipment for sale is generally in very good condition too so maybe worth thinking about.

Take a look here for some suggestions

Hi. I'm just wondering does anyone know the barrel size/eyepiece size for this particular telescope my friend has bought and is in post. Is it 0.96 or 1.25 ? It's called a "Prolux 900" and it's a 114/900 Newt. reflector and is German, made by "Astro-Teleskop". Here's a picture. I would be massively grateful if anyone knew/could tell me, or even make an educated guess from personal experience ?? Thanks, Wes.boxed-prolux-900-astronomical-telescope-

    Just measure it.
