  1. You weren’t being offered any, haha 🖕, only the select few😬
  2. Hi Adrian, As said previously, sorry you will not be joining us at GSP. I hope all is well with you, earlier comments accepted. We could have a virtual dram of the Irish Firewater 😬, as long as you can work Zoom /WhatsApp video call. It certainly won’t be from the warm room, but you could virtually experience the dark skies - PM me your number and we can sort it out 😁 Currently standing outside eyeballing Mars, glaring at me from the South-eastern skies. Keep save and hope to see you soon / next year/ GSP!
  3. In the process of making a small pot of Irish Stew😁
  4. Dai, did you cancel your booking with Leslie? Reason I ask is, I know of someone who believes they were at the top of the list to be contacted if a place became available and they have yet to be contacted by Leslie - with the offer of a pitch. There may well be a lag in information on here / hearsay and reality, just asking the question.
  5. Hi Kyle, I am not aware of any specific online sites listing dark observing sites. Good Dark sites can be difficult to come by and the location of ones that people use are generally closely guarded. It is very dependant on your location and quite how far you are willing to travel. Some sites that initially seem ideal can have issues with undesirables turning up in the dark for activities that are in no way related to astronomy 🙄 Have you joined an Astronomy Society near to you? That would be a good start. They will most likely have sites that they use for viewing nights. Also members may have their own sites that they are willing to share with you
  6. Well done. Considering the difficulties you mentioned that is a cracking image. Congratulations 👍
  7. Sorry to hear that Dai - we are in very strange times!!! Just have to make up for it next year.
  8. Right - I must apologise for the time it has taken me to post this. There are a few reasons for the delay, other than my tardiness 🙄 It is quite a delay, almost a year to the day. To allay everyone’s fears that I am a tea leaf, I finally got round to paying money into account and making a donation to Parkinson’s Research UK:- https://www.parkinsons.org.uk The grand total from badge sales was £192. Don’t know how I ended up with £192 as I was giving badges away at £5 a pop!!!! Thank you to everyone who contributed to a very worthy cause that is very close to all associated with GSP.
  9. Can’t believe the SP is nearly upon us 😳 Looking forward to it 😀
  10. Sorry to hear that Adrian. We shall endeavour to have a good time in your absence. Look forward to seeing you next year/ SP.
  11. Can’t beat the taste of a bit of home brew 👍
  12. I heard it / you. Well done again, you acquitted yourself very well 👍
  13. Congratulations, very well done, regardless of whether it was serendipity or not. Look forward to hearing the piece on the radio 😁
  14. Cool, it may need some settling time, when you arrive on site 😳
  15. Hi Derren, Understand the rational. Wise move, under the circumstances. Everyone will understand. Better safe than sorry, it will still be a great SP!!
  16. Hi Alexandra, Congratulations on the award!!👍👍 Your last paragraph shows how much Steve used to do to keep Solarchat going, good on ya👍
  17. I realize that this is LONG WINDED and completely alien to me, I apologise. You havin a laugh Derren? You excelled yourself there!!! All valid points and I am sure everyone will adhere to the regulations. As you say, “a SP is better than No SP“ 👍
  18. Apologies if posted elsewhere, and if I have posted this in the wrong place. I would like to congratulate Alexandra Hart on winning Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2020, under the category of Our Sun. Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2020: Andromeda Galaxy image wins top prize https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-54105085 Very well done, lovely image, but that’s bread and butter for you. Well done!!!
  19. Do not cut the foam! Just depress it to the shape of the item/ EP, means when you rearrange the box you can just pull the foam up and re-align. No need to buy replacement foam for many years
  20. Well done. Personal opinion, I think it is slightly over cooked on the pole, but well done, lovely image.
  21. Well done, that’s a lovely image. Congrats!
