  1. Nearly there, the finishing line / scope is in sight
  2. Nooooooo, don't motorise it. That would be sacrilege to Mr Dobson
  3. What's that I hear you say "Damian eating someone else's last piece of cake". I have never heard such truth!!!!! ?
  4. Beautiful to read and observe this thread. Well done big man. You have a new career all planned out already ?
  5. Having had a look through the finished article, it's lovely to see it at all stages of construction. Are you sure you are not a Tech Pubs writer in another life? Very well written and documented. You would certainly have need a few pies as sustenance during this build? I suspect that you're telescope building antics will result in many people's downfall as they attempt to replicate you're workmanship? Cracking job and cracking scope ?
  6. I have owned a Type 1 TV Paracorr and currently use a Type 2 on my 12" Dob. The biggest difference I would highlight is that the Type 1 only has 1 off screw to lock the tuneable top. I found that this introduced an element of slop in the tuneable top if using a heavy EP. The Type 2 has 2 off locking screws on almost opposing sides. This locks the tuneable top more securely and eliminates the slop.
  7. Get stuck in big man! I am really hoping and yet confident that this bit of success is the motivation and encouragement that you have been needing for quite some time. I sense a renewed vigor within you Damian, keep at it. I think you have been bitten too many times to rush in, take it gently and you will quickly forget the grief of past times
  8. "I can resist everything but temptation" Sent from my Fone

  13. Well done Damian, looking good. I found it possible to see the difference in the photos by using the "Page Up" & "Page Down" buttons to scroll through the images quickly, you can really see the difference in them. Really good news that your mojo is still intact and progress is being made. The time away in May will really help things as you will come back invigorated.
  14. Ok, ok here goes. Be gentle on me. I feel such a tart posting this Sorry for the poor image, off the phone, if you don't flame me I may post a better image ;-) Sent from my Fone
  15. I have yet to post a pic of my EP case, but I do enjoy reading everyone else's posts and oggling at the glassware. I might just have to succumb to posting a picture of my incomplete EP case
  16. Yes, where is the case? I thought the title of this thread was "show me your eyepieces case" but people keep cluttering the pictures with eyepieces :-0Sent from my Fone
  17. Thank you, sorry for the confusion. Sent from my Fone
  18. Hi Derek, In really simple terms you should be able to see perfectly straight lines across the full face of the mirror. The dark lines show where the beams of light have cancelled each other out. Others, including Damian will give a more definitive answer. Sent from my Fone
  19. This really is gripping stuff, the tension is killing me, keep at it Damian Ian Sent from my Fone
  20. To be fair this isn't quite as Eastenders as the Archers is becoming ;-0 Ian
  21. Does not sound good. Just think - when you have finished this epic journey, you will be able to look back and laugh about it. i know you probably don't think that now, but wait until you are at some star party somewhere and you recount this to somebody else, you will say it with a smile on your face (maybe even gritted teeth) Ian
  22. Hi Damian, Really enjoying this thread. Very well documented, that is a job in itself. I look forward to following this through to its conclusion. Keep up the excellent work and postings. Missed you at Galloway. Ian
  23. Hi John & wife, Welcome to SGL, I am sure you will both have a ball with that new scope. Clear skies, Ian
  24. That's what I thought when first saw the picture Ian
