  1. (Forgot to make one of these when signing up, felt like it would be good to make one ) Hiya all at SGL, I've not been here too long, just been here learning much more about the hobby and obviously getting some assistance with the new purchase I made almost a month ago on my lovely little Skywatcher 130p with some BST's and have had some nice stunning views for planetary at the moment, mostly being Jupiter due to viewing area with some nice large trees. Living under some 'lovely' bottle 5/6 skies. I am also planning a nice upgrade to a possible 127 or 130 SLT (though may go to SE's or similar honestly not too sure at the moment) as I have may have caught onto the virus of spending a lot of money into this hobby and it's very hard to hold it back. 😂 Looking forward to participating in different conversations on here and as a whole I'm happy that I found SGL and its great to be here. Bobbie.
  2. Something's arrived in the mail today 👀 Glad to have my hands on them, now must hope for some clear weather in the coming days. Thanks to everyone once again for assisting me with what EP's to buy etc, appreciate it very much! Clear Skies!
  3. Yeah, I'm unable to compare any but I'm definitely going to check their differences once it arrives. The basic EP that I currently use (until the BST ones come) don't honestly look too bad, personally I wouldn't slag them off but will depend on their differences which I hope to see once the BST's arrive. I used the basics yesterday as it was surprisingly a little clear and got a nice view on Jupiter, though I've never used any other EP than the basic so I may be in for a slight shock I'm not sure haha.
  4. Secured both of them for a decent price. Can't wait to get my hands on 'em! Thanks for the help everyone once again! 👍
  5. Sent a PM, thank you so much for sending this. Hopefully I was quick enough
  6. Hi all, thanks for the time you spent writing this information. I'll definitely look into making sure it's collimated properly as it could most definitely be off slightly so thank you. For the eyepiece I'll make sure to get them soon, I'll look into getting it collimated properly first if not and then I will move to the eyepiece upgrade once done and tested. Thanks again guys/gals! 👍
  7. Hey all again, glad to be back on the forum with some more questions ahah! So I've had my Skywatcher Explorer 130p for about a week or so now and had definitely been a blast using it. Even though at the moment I have only used it on Jupiter and the moon as the weather in the UK as you know is the VERY BEST! Though I still enjoy looking at them! I'm now looking to SLIGHTLY upgrade my equipment on my SW130P like eyepieces and whatever else you guys recommend. At the moment I have the 2x and 5x Barlow along with the 10mm and 25mm but I assume they came with the scope already. (I bought it off of someone.) I was looking at the BST starguiders as recommended and yeah I was just wondering whether it is worth buying them and how it works of I buy a new scope in the future. (I assume it works the same as long as the sizes of the eyepiece is the same? As always I'm happy to spend the money on these but would definitely save money if I can use them on a future upgrade to the scope etc(I'm new to this sorry haha.)) I also want to know how much difference they make if I buy them as currently I can see Jupiter decently as a 'dot' kind of but with a bit of colour along with small 'dots' being the moons (Which constantly blasts me away with joy 😂) though wondering if I can push the limits and see a bit closer, honestly I want to push my SW130P to its full performance if that's possible with these BST eyepieces and stuff, will be glad to hear a response, thanks guys and gals!
  8. Very exciting 😂, I will look into those BST starguider pieces and try get one very soon thank you for recommending that. For the solar filter, yeah it's one of those big ones which the guy who I bought from kindly provided it though I haven't tried it yet but I will definitely check through it each time before I do put it on the scope. 👍 Thanks again
  9. Hi all again! Thought it would be worth updating what I ended up getting. So getting a Dob was harder than I thought it would be as getting a good one new was a bit of budget hit for me and for used no one replied to me so yeah. Yesterday I picked up a Skywatcher 130P on I think an EQ2 mount with motor drive. It came with four books (left at orion, astronomy for dummies, moongazing and 2021 guide for sightings) it also came with a few good accessories 2x and 5x Barlow, moon filter, sun filter and those 10mm and 25mm pieces. I've just finished using the scope and just used it all night till now (4:50am) and I've loved every single bit of it. Got a really nice view on Jupiter for a few seconds before clouds came. Also looked at some random stars as I was bored and then at last the moon came into view and spent a good 30 minutes messing around with different eyepieces etc to see what was best. If any of you guys have any good tips/additionals/anything, feel free to leave it here as I'd really love to hear it. Thanks to all above for your responses to my questions, appreciate it very much. Glad to have this as a new hobby and glad to be here at SGL! (Here's a really bad image just because I was so hyped 😂)
  10. Ah okay I'm glad you add that thank you. I think I'm sure on getting it and if I do I'll look into buying one of those very soon too. Thanks very much, love the help here at SGL!
  11. @etsatlo Yeah a bit in the future, I'll plan to add things like that to the scope and obviously upgrade way further in the future depending on how things go, thank you! @almcl Thank you for the comment, yeah I'm interested in most likely adding something like a motor and all that stuff later on of course, would love to have one. Glad you don't regret it and hopefully will be the same for me! @Carbon Brush Hey sorry I forgot to put that on my profile, I'm located in Lancashire just by the 61
  12. Thanks for the response David, yeah it does look quite nice and the guy provided a video of it. https://streamable.com/i1fyxg never seen the blue tint online though pretty sure it's still the 200p with EQ5 mount. Looks really nice and tempted to go purchase it. I understand the journeys I have to take with this scope to the garden etc and I'm happy for that as I'm not too bothered to do this, will give me some exercise 😂
  13. Thanks for the response, yeah preferably I'd love to get into astrophotography, I did have the skywatcher what I was on about and the celestron 130EQ though was told that Skywatcher was the better option, just not sure what to get from them as the 5EQ and 200p was a bad combo so not sure if a 130/150p with EQ2 would be better. Thanks again!
  14. Appreciate these fast response guys, yeah I read somethings about the 130/150 heritage and does look good but was looking to have one on a mount. Would it still be recommended to maybe consider this and a mount or switch to something completely different? (Celestron, Skywatcher or even stick to the ones with dob mounts)
  15. Okay thanks for that, will take a look into it. At this moment in time I'm now completely lost what to buy because I genuinely thought the EQ5 and 200p was a good combo but I didn't check weights and all that haha. Maybe I should take a step back to the 130p on the EQ2 mount. Really unfortunate that the EQ5 and 200p is a bad combo. I may just go for the 130p with the EQ2 mount that I showed images of above, possibly a better options for my situation.
