  1. I was looking at those are they very stable at full height
  2. I found one exactly the same on a local buy and sell site in Ireland for 30 euros. Just wondering if it would be stable enough
  3. Hi all. I want to get a chair for observing, the ones in the shops are too expensive , I thought about making one but my wood working skills would let me down. I came across this , would it be stable enough when at full height, extends to 32". Dave
  4. Nice scope , I thought the same alot bigger then i was expecting, I get some nice views of the sun through mine
  5. I used to do alot of carp fishing. The make your buying is a top end make and expensive there should be quite a few other makes which would be alot cheaper and do the job you need it for
  6. Postman brought me this today with thanks to @Pitch Black Skies.
  7. Pleiades. 12"skywatcher dob. ES 82 30mm. Samsung a52 single shot no editing.
  8. Hi all. As the title says am I still doing something wrong. I have a 12"skywatcher dob and I still can't get much more detail on the planets. On jupiter I see the 2 bands and sometimes the red spot but nothing else. On Saturn I think I might have seen the cassini division once. I had a look at what you should expect to see, and I don't think I'm using my dob to it's full potential. I let it cool down for a long time and even put the fans on to help , I think my collinmation is ok star tests look good. Would buying a chair and sitting down being relaxed and taking more time at the ep help instead of spending 5 minutes here and there. Dave
  9. A few new toys to use tonight. The fan works a dream but a bit noisy. A new 80mm finderscope and a baddar skyglow filter
  10. Altair 80mm finderscope. ES 82 11mm Samsung a52. Single shot no editing .
  11. Nice Postman just delivered this altair 80mm finderscope. Thanks to @Mark at Beaufort. Can't wait to give it a try.
  12. A new filter to try out on the planets. With thanks to @mark at Beaufort
  13. Hi tripled. If the view's your getting are still good I wouldn't clean the mirror I've heard that they can get quite dirty and still give good view's. I recently cleaned mirror not because it was dirty I had pinched optics, so I thought I'd clean it while it was out , I used a drop of washing up liquid and the finger method to clean along with distilled water, if your fingers are rough maybe medical grade cotton wool. There's a thread where I asked the question about cleaning the mirror and there is a very handy YouTube video about it. Dave
  14. Not the postman my wife found this in a charity shop. Is she trying to give me a hint.
  15. What causes a disturbed extra focal image
  16. No anomalies at best focus just a sharp star. I only got the scope out to do a collinmation check as trying to collimate it all day, wish I kept the scope out longer to help out with my question
  17. It stayed still in the centre of the ep. I had a clear view no obstruction. Mirror is extremely clean only just clean it
  18. I tried different ep's and still the same. When the star drifted across the fov the dot stayed still
  19. I used Arcturus as it was the first star out
  20. Hi all. While doing a star test I noticed a circle on the defocused star , I change ep's as I thought I had a mark on it but still the same. I never noticed it before any ideas . Dave
  21. That's the one it should tighten or loosen the focuser movement. Dave
  22. Hi SmoothOperater. I can't see from the picture, is there a grub screw just below the locking bolt . That will tighten or loosen the focuser.. Dave
