  1. Hi all @Elp pointed me in this direction thanks.

I'm thinking of getting an AZGTI mount to use with a DSLR camera which i need to get as well and later on maybe a scope once i understand how to process the image's.

Is it just literally set it up point to where you want and it will track. Are they easy to set up and use

Is there anything else i would need to buy like power bank and lead's , EQ wedge etc

Any more help would be appreciated .

    Thanks dave

  2. Hi all.

I'm in a dilemma, after saving and selling stuff I've finally got enough to get a EQ platform for my dob as i like to take images with my phone and i thought it would help.

Then looking at other stuff to buy i can get an Celestron 6se for a little bit extra , i don't really need the go-to just wanted something easy to set up and track.

I could buy a DSLR camera to go with the 6se , would i get good images of galaxys and nebula with this setup.

I can't afford a good EQ mount or scope so please don't try and spend my money 🤑.

    Any other cheap alternatives welcome.

Taken for fun really just to see what it can do. Phone is an A52S, 10s exposure under Bortle 5 skies with a little tweaking on phone editor. I feel like M33 is in there too. 3 galaxies and two clusters from a 10 second exposure with a phone. Still blows me away 😂

Dave Hi that is a collimation-locking bolt. I also have a Skywatcher 12" cell, and I never use those locking bolts, actually: my springs are strong enough to hold everything in place as I move my scope around. Also, I am about to receive an Orion Optics 300mm mirror cell, so my SW cell will very soon be redundant anyway.

Consequently, for either of those reasons, I'd be very happy to send you my locking knobs. Otherwise It would ve going to metal recycyling soon anyway. I believe I still have your address in my PM inbox from the RDF you took off me.

Shall I post it? No charge obviously.

    Cheers, Magnus

Will try this tonight , don't really suffer from dew on the 200 dob but thought it could make images more stable, at least I have seen posts to that effect.

    So let's try!

Do you guys leave it on for the session or just at the start?

Is the fan sucking in air or blowing out, not sure if it makes a difference but i was asked that question.

I leave mine on for a couple of hours just to make sure it's cooled down enough before use.
