  1. I wanted to try and image the comet, but the phone I'm using at the moment is rubbish, so it was just the moon. Phone held at ep 12"skywatcher dob. Televue Ethos 13mm. Samsung galaxy a12
  2. I made a dew shield from a yoga matt but after a while it started to lose shape. So I brought a 12" lynx astro one and as the same as you they are too small. I brought some velcro from amazon a few inches wide which connected it together, covered that section with some flocking material I had left over , and now it works fine.
  3. Thanks Elp. I don't think my DSLR does video as it's old. I just purchased a Skywatcher Star Adventurer and a samjang lens to do long exposures but I've miss placed the polar scope illuminator so i haven't used it yet
  4. I managed to find Jupiter , just s small dot in the live view when i zoomed in could see the planet and the bands , but once I've taken the image it's a small dot still
  5. Hi all. First night out with my cannon 450d , thought I'd hook it up to the dob and take some images. Finding the moon was easy changed iso and shutter speed to get in focus. But i can't focus on Jupiter/ Mars or anything else is there something I'm doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Dave.
  6. I've found out because my samjang lens is manual it will not change
  7. Hi all. After purchasing a used 450d , I'm trying to figure out how to use it. After watching some YouTube videos about changing the f ratio mine still says f00 and does not change is the camera broken or am I doing something wrong. Dave.
  8. I started pimping my dob. New focuser, 80mm RACI , and fan for the primary and fully flocked. I was going to buy a EQ platform but spent the money on some Telvue Ethos instead.
  9. The pick and pluck Max case's from Amazon are cheap and well made . I would recommend them.
  10. Not the postman, my wife just brought me back a present from Belfast. And a carbon fiber tripod
  11. I would say nice postman brought me this, but he delivered it to the wrong address. So nice neighbor brought me this. Just have to learn how to use it now.
  12. Hi all. I just purchased a cannon 450d . What do i need to connect it to me 12" Skywatcher dob. I've also got a Skywatcher Star Adventurer 2i WiFi Pro on the way , what lenses would be best for the camera for nebula, deep sky. Dave
  13. Nice postman brought a few items thanks to @HollyHound. Can't wait to go home and try them out.
  14. @Franklin has one for sale in the classifieds.
  15. Think i might also have a very faint owl nebula in the first image
  16. My favorite was ES 82 14mm , but just sold it😔. And brought an Telvue Ethos 13mm instead😁
  17. I was looking at those as well, but just spent all my money on some Ethos
  18. Couldn't sleep so up at 4.30 outside was clear and calm after all the wind and rain we've had. Could have got the dob out but didn't want to wait for it to cool down, images taken resting my phone on the recycling bin. I tried for M81 and M82 first, the moon was high and the halo was nearly at Mars, not brilliant but can just make out them, the plane ruined the shot. I then tried for M51 no luck but Mizar as a nice double. Then Orion. Orion, Mars and Pleiades. The moon.
  19. If you hold the phone steady enough in night mode, it goes into astrophotography mode and takes a 4 minute shot and stacks it for you.
  20. Thanks mark. I didn't notice it at the bottom
  21. Google pixel 6 pro rested on a table
  22. I like using a head torch it keeps your hands free but mine is too big and i keep hitting the finder scope with it
  23. I'm sure i will enjoy using it for you
  24. Congratulations to you all. Well done your images were superb. Dave
