  1. Thanks guys, but 1k is out of my price range. I think i will just stick to observing. Cheers
  2. Ouch. Maybe i will give up on deep sky photography then. I haven't got that much disposable income.
  3. Thanks! If i were to upgrade the mount, what one would i have to go for to allow for deep sky photography?
  4. Thnaks for the replies. Stolenfeather, have you got any images that you have taken so that i can see what sort of pictures i can expect please?
  5. Hi, I am looking at getting a dSLR to start imaging nebulae and galaxies, however, i have a Dob. Will i be able to still take reasonable shots using this type of mount or is there not much point going into this area of astrophotography with a dob? I don't want to be spending loads on upgrading the mount either as i have a budget of £500 which includes the camera. Cheers Jack
  6. Thanks guys. It was manually tracked with my Dob, yes.
  7. Hi everyone. I tried to have a go at imaging the Io transit with the GRS on the 24th. The skies were clear but the image was quite flickery, so there must have been a few clouds around causing some distortion. Here is the best that i could get before the real clouds came over and Io was out of the transit and the GRS was out of view;
  8. Cheers
  9. Cheers guys. I will have a play around again and try one without the filter for next time.
  10. The conditions were fluctuating a bit and the image was getting dark and then really bright so it was difficult to get it right. I will have a go at redoing the video tomorrow. I will be more picking as to which frames to stack and will try to weed out the ones that seem to have too much gain. I agree. I think i overdid it on the wavelets so i will have a play around with that too. Is there anything that i can do to it in Photoshop to help enhance it further? Thanks
  11. I went through each frame and deselected blurry ones where i was centring Jupiter in the frame as i have to manually track it. Apart from those, i set the quality to 90% of the best frame i could find. Do you think i should be even more selective when choosing the frames to stack then?
  12. Hi all, Had a 2nd go at Jupiter last night, leaving it until around 1-2am when it was a reasonable distance from the closest street light. After being dissapointed with my first attempt, i took on board all of the advice everybody gave me and tried again. Here is the best that i could get with a 3 minute video at 10fps using a SW 200p Dob, SPC880(SPC900), 2x barlow and a Baader Neodymium filter. Took the video using Sharpcap, stacked using Registax, and cropped in Photoshop. Does anyone have any advice on what i could do to help enhance the image? Thanks
  13. According to Stellarium Europa will be in transit along with the GRS on Tues evening/ Wed morning. And Io and the GRS will do the same again this time next week Lets hope it won't be cloudy though
  14. Thanks very much guys. At the moment, Jupiter is normally in the same direction as a streetlight that shines over into the garden and it is around 2am before it is far enough away. Hopefully it is also this (along with the lack of perfect imaging conditions) rather than my scope or settings Thanks again. I will give it another go on Friday or Saturday night hopefully. Also, i have just received some colour filters from Astroboot. Will these make any difference whatsoever to imaging? I assume that they won't and are just for viewing purposes?
