  1. Hey guys, I've managed to get my hands on a HEQ5 Pro, so I now need to make up my mind about which telescope I'm going to get. I'm looking to spend around £250 (hopefully less though) and I'm mainly interested in imaging DSO's. The most obvious in this price range is probably the Skywatcher 200p, however the sheer size of it is making me have second thoughts as I'd probably want to take it to different locations. So far I've been struggling to come up with any other ideas. I've been looking at some Maksutovs and Refractors but I found they tend to be quite expensive compared to the Newts. Therefore I was wondering if anyone knew of any other telescopes that I should be considering? Thanks!
  2. Okay thanks for your help! I ended up buying this one: 12V 5A Cigarette Socket Power Supply : Cigarette Socket Power Supplies : Maplin On the website it says its unregulated, but when I went to the shop on the box it says it is regulated. Anyway time to go test this mount out!
  3. Thanks for that some really good advice. I wish I knew this stuff before I got the mount, I want to play with it now. Before I head off to Maplin today I was wondering if you could tell me if these are suitable? http://www.maplin.co.uk/ac-dc-multi-voltage-4a-switched-mode-power-supply-48517 I notice that this one isn't regulated though, does that matter? http://www.maplin.co.uk/12v-5a-cigarette-socket-power-supply-42702 Also if I decided to get the battery pack what adapter would I need to connect it to the mount? http://www.maplin.co.uk/3-in-1-portable-jumpstarter-383992 Many Thanks!
  4. Wow thanks a lot for the advice guys! At the moment I have the mount and tripod set up, but I am still yet to power it up and give it a test. I was wondering what I need to be able to connect it to the mains, as all I've got is the cigarette lighter cable? I have some cheap mains plug that lets you change the voltage and comes with different adapters, but theres no chance I'd trust it on this bit of kit!
  5. Hey guys, I have bought a second hand HEQ5 Pro and it arrived today. I'm about to put it together, and as this is my first mount I was wondering if there were any things I could do to test what condition its in when its fully assembled? I need to hurry up and buy a telescope now! Thanks.
  6. For autoguiding with the HEQ5 SynScan could I just use the RS232 to USB cable from Astronomiser?
  7. I have to agree with the others too. The first one seems a lot better to me, the contrast is good, there are some nice colours coming through, and its sharp. The second seems washed out, and a bit blurred to me. Nice job on both though!
  8. Okay thanks guys, I'll check back tomorrow.
  9. I can't seem to access it either. What's classed as one months 'Active' membership?
  10. I can't wait to see M42... or anything for that matter! I just wish these clouds would go! haha
  11. I was having the same problems the other day when I set up my 1145p too, I'll have to try some of these tips tomorrow!
  12. If the unfortunate happens and you do get dust on the sensor, what would be the best way to try and get rid of it?
  13. Adz, with this scope is the only extra part needed to attach the 1000d the tring?
  14. Wow I'm really liking these! I too would like some insight into how you took these pictures?
  15. Wow that is awesome, some really nice colour in there!
  16. You've seen more than me so far! haha I took my new scope out the other night, was the first clear ish night in two weeks, then within minutes it was cloudy! Typical.
  17. Welcome to SGL, I look forward to seeing some of your images!
