  1. Hi there and welcome. Ex of Kent here, family hailing from Woolwich and Crayford, raised in Dartford. Escaped 20+ plus years ago, but links still with Thanet. Adrian
  2. I had slightly curved flashes a year or so back. Definitely worth a visit to optician to check the cause. My detachment has settled down and no flashes for quite a while now.
  3. Very good program, I could have watched a lot more. 'A life scientific' is about as close as I get to this kind of discussion on a regular basis.
  4. I agree with reporting change as soon as it occurs, definitely with eyes. I was getting some ring flashes (quite odd in the dark) with a fairly large floater, so managed to see an optician while under tight covid controls. Apparently they are evidence of the vitreous humour coming away, to some detailed inspection was done. All very interesting. Fortunately this kind of issue settles down, but I still need to watch out for more flashes. The floater is here to stay most likely.

  6. I can't recall the plane, but numbers were similar. Gravel runway ending with a drop. A plane had crashed a couple of years before releasing its cargo of lobsters on a nearby mountain!
  7. Phillipines internal flight. Everything weighed, including the passengers. Weight distribution more important on smaller planes perhaps. Or cutting fuel to minimum!
  8. Much as I like the idea of kit that shows me where something is without having to find it, it does add to the overall faff. Messing about with more gear, power etc for relatively small amounts of visual observing does not currently seem like a reasonable ROI. This is from someone who's already spent the money too! My mistake. Both of us being in relatively high light polluted areas can't help.
  9. Nah, Stuy is small or far off. Quite a beast! How do you mount that? (Apart from very carefully!)
  10. Well after nearly two months , it's 'Next time'. Which met with success. M42 very obvious, I was very happy to see it and now know what is reasonable to expect. I was happy to cope with almost constant slo-mo operation at x211 too. First outings for the Pentax siblings. I'm not sure how much difference the filter made, not enough time to spend swapping it in and out and back again.
  11. Yes, replacing that table and pot with a tripod would be smart. More stable on stone. 😀
  12. Plenty of desiccant sachets around ATM, one with each Covid LFT. I've been collecting them... If the environment is often damp, the desiccant will need replacing or drying out more often and it is not easy to tell if it is active either.
  13. Yes. I've friends with professional interests, one a PI on that list. A very nervous Christmas! I'm not sure if I should be jealous - the reliance on one sensor for years of work is anathema to my work.
  14. Great to read. Don't forget to put it in your webpage templates.
  15. Unfortunately the three brighter stars that make up the 'sword' are barely visible to the naked eye here. How I long for the bright stars of my youth.
