  1. Very nice. Re the collision, I've read recently that the outer gas envelopes of M31 and the Milky Way may already be colliding.
  2. Cheers Grant. I was a little confused as the image currently has the same link for both days, but different QR codes.
  3. Hi, how can I book for the Saturday only? I can't find an appropriate link. All seems to be about the imaging day or lunch. Adrian
  4. Google translate not playing for me.
  5. Not a problem William. I don't know how anyone could remember all the combinations and numbers. I can barely recall my own phone number. Memory and numbers don't go together for me. Perhaps not the best thing in this activity, but less risky compare to my other interests. I have a BBHS prism with clicklock, so I'll just mount that directly. It was more about overall length saving for transport etc. combining with ignorance to lead to my latest near cockup. Adrian
  6. Thank you William for the detailed reply and to you and Ricochet for pointing out what should have been obvious to me on the diameter mismatch. Perhaps I had 2.5 inch on the brain... I'm relieved I asked the question as I got the answer I needed even if not the one I wanted. Adrian PS, I thought something was odd with the 77mm figure.
  7. Good afternoon everyone. I've recently got hold of a Feather Touch FTF2025BCR to replace the stock focuser on my FC100-DC. I do like using the Baader clicklock system, so I envisage getting this adapter https://www.firstlightoptics.com/adapters/baader-clicklock-m63a-x-1-for-feather-touch-25-focusers.html However, before I part with yet more dosh, I'd like to understand how it fits. The Baader ring shows an external thread, yet the eyepiece end of the inner focuser tube has a clamp system. The other end does appear to have an internal thread. Does this tube get turned around in some manner? Also, any advice re fitting a finder? Current is standard Tak bracket on the Tak focuser. Adrian
  8. Is the Tiff compressed too? The format does allow for lossless compression.
  9. Second hand paperbacks will probably go up in price for fuel too.
  10. Locals may think Brixham to Sidmouth a bit of a trek, but the Norman Lockyer Observatory has an open day this Thursday 25 at 19:00. £10.
  11. Having also kept a spreadsheet of my astronomy spend, I'd prefer the woollen blanket for comfort.
  12. Diving weights, especially plastic coated, are stupid prices. Your way you got the curve and weight you wanted, probably much cheaper too.
  13. I know what you mean Paul, I'm also in Exeter and a beginner. I can get away with some viewing from the garden, but light and rooftops do spoil things. Driving out is really the answer, but I'm not up for late nights at the moment nor doing it solo. Perhaps when it's darker earlier we could pair up for a trip to the Moors?
  14. That's got to be up there with 'I was walking my dog.' 😁

    Disaster

Zero Magnetic to True deviation is now currently a line Swindon to Salisbury. The sailors rhyme 'mag to grid, get rid' etc. is now problematic. Well it always was if you sailed far West, but that's WAFIs for you.
  16. I like the idea that in 50 years we find out the global warming was not man-made after all, but that the fear that it was made us clean up our act, save energy, waste, stop polluting and more people live longer, healthier and happier lives as a result. With 40°C nighttime temps in the UK.
  17. Unfortunately I've had to pay postage as they were closed for much of the COVID period. I've not seen the inside yet.
  18. I'd be a bit wary of applying any extrapolation from the layout of planets in exoplanet systems. Big planets are easier to spot and I recall we don't have many systems yet with multiple planets to draw meaningful conclusions as to a normal order. However, you do make a good point. No one expected Hot Jupiters.
  19. I've got to an age that such a commute would have me dead on my feet by the end of the week, if not the road. I used to commute Dartford to Hampton, then Reading every day which led to me changing job and location completely. How you do it every week I don't know. I can understand whey getting a scope out late might not appeal currently. Give my regards to Dartford please Stu. I only seem to go there now for funerals.
  20. Gary Numan is older than Gary Oldman.
  21. Cracking shot. I'm sure I can see someone waving through the window.
  22. I've been collecting from COVID tests. I have quite a few.
