  1. Sounds like fun. I hope my connection plays ball for this episode.
  2. Yes I remember Cath and I came to see you, I was quite ill then. We went to see them a couple of weeks age to get the latest regarding the virus situation.
  3. Looking as good as the day you finished it Malcolm. I must post my latest images of the obsy.
  4. I am pleased to announce that the South Wales Astronomy Group (SWAG) has arranged pitches to be available for an Autumn Star Party at the superb Pencelli Castle Caravan & Camping Park. Sited in the Brecon Beacons National Park and Dark Sky Reserve, this location offers some truly dark skies which are excellent for observing and imaging. Please read Site Conditions. The main nights will be Thurs 15th, Friday 16th and Sat 17th October 2020. The New Moon is on Fri 16th. Anyone wanting additional nights outside these dates please confirm on booking. Bookings this year will be made directly to the Pencelli Camp site. Fees for your pitch etc will be paid at time of booking. If you have any queries please PM me and I will try and sort them. All pitches and hard standings for us are in the Oaks area. All pitches have EHU and have the least obstructed views of the night sky. If bookings exceed the pitches on the Oaks, there is the Meadows, an area that can be used for tents only but has no EHU. This area also offers excellent views. The Meadows cannot be booked until the Oaks have been filled. This will avoid unfilled pitches on the Oaks being used by the public during the event. Please Contact Pencelli Caravan Park direct for Bookings. Please ensure you tell them you are with the Astronomy Group so pitches are reserved together. If you have a favourite pitch, please ask them to try and reserve it for you. After booking please could you post here your SGL name and the Pitch number you have been allocated. This will help other members to see what pitches are available and who is attending. The site amenities are available from Saturday 25th July. If the situation with Covid 19 changes then I will post the update here. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me either email or PM. Tony
  5. Unfortunately I was getting a lot of drop out on my connection, unable to join until 19.48. Screen freeze was a big problem, so I shut down. I will catch up on Youtube. It looked like a great talk.
  6. Thank you all for your thoughts and recommendations. After a lot of soul searching and research, I decided to buy this setup complete except the USB Pressure Tuner. I'm sure I will get a lot from this scope, including a big learning curve. Thanks again.
  7. Thanks Nigella certainly a lot of food for thought. I think I will hold off for now buying new, and do more research on second hand kit available.
  8. Thanks for the heads up. I think it is a bit over my budget for a solar starter scope. I was looking at this one. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/lunt-solar-50mm-h-alpha-telescopes/lunt-ls50tha-h-alpha-solar-telescope.html Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks.
  9. Sounds like a great deal you had, did you have a deal for me in mind.
  10. Thanks Tich, that's a big spanner you throw. 🤨 We are both well thanks.
  11. Vin.. Thanks for the info , the images help a lot. Tich how are you keeping well I hope. As for cameras I have 2x DSLRs and my main one the ZWO1600MC
  12. Solar Imaging/Viewing for beginners, and equipment demystified.
  13. I have been wanting to make a start in solar imaging for a while, and now have the opportunity to buy a new Lunt LS50THa B600PT . What imagery and views can I expect from this scope, or will I need to spend £££s to get something other than a white disc. Any example images would be great. Many thanks.
  14. I was at a talk given by Daz a few years ago at Lucksall. It was on the subject of Sequence Generator. Unfortunately, I was unable to take it all in on the day. A session like the last two (hint) would be for me at least invaluable.
  15. Great talk, very informative. I clicked on the record button on top left, not sure what it does. My broadband kept dropping out so I'm looking forward to the YT post.
  16. Hi Tich, on my Vixen 81s the specs say Back Focus (from rear edge of focuser body) Back Focus with Reducer (from rear edge of reducer) HTH
  17. Great set Tich, good to see you are keeping busy.
  18. Good news Justyn, I look forward to the end results. It should be good again tonight.
  19. Good to see you again today Justyn, even though it was at 3 mtrs and only 20mins. I wish I was well enough to spend 4 weeks there under lockdown, I would do it in a heartbeat. Good luck with the weather over the few days. Hope to meet up again in the Autumn.
