  1. what  cool things will I see in the sky, when I am sitting out on my Porch in the Early morning,  just looking up at the  vast UNIVERSE?......

I  have already identified the Big Dipper, and I  got to see the Space Station go overhead, I also Identified JUPITER, in the Western part of the

sky where I live, which is in Peoria,ILL .

I  have also seen  Starlink, satellites, although another member in stargazers lounge, said if I keep looking up I just might see

satellites  that Chine will launch, or even some Russian satellites, but lately its been cloudy here in ILL, where I live, so I haven't got to see

much up in the sky, hopefully  in the next couple days,it will clear up here in Peoria and I will get to observe, more things in the sky.

  2. I am currently taking a class online, in Astronomy, it is  on  confronting the Big Question???. Our we alone in the universe?

it has a lot to do with asking the Question,  what is Life?, and  What Does it mean to be Alive?

I  have often thought, about those Questions, but am not sure,  how to  answer that Question.

there our many, many  Questions, that we don't have the answers to , the mystery of life, is just what it is a mystery.

we Don't know,  that is Why  this Question is so Big, I just started the class,as of today and it is very   interesting, thus far,I have learned

about  the  Gas Giant Plants in our  cosmos , and next will be Gas Giants Vs Liquid Giant plants.

its a good Question when you think about it, and as those who love and study Astronomy, that is the big Question, that we should  be asking our selves, as we look

up into our Cosmos, the Two Big Questions Being what is the definition of Life, and  what does it mean to be alive??????

  3. was sitting out on my porch Early this morning, and was looking  at the Eastern  part of  the sky, saw an object

shoot across the Eastern part of the sky, not sure if it was a comment, or a  shooting  Star

it shot so fast across the sky,I could not tell what I might have saw.

  4. was sitting out on my poarch early this morning, spotted the Space Station, fly right by from NW, and even

though I waved up at them,I knew that, they could not see me waving to them, but just the thought,of  one of

the astronauts, sitting in the coupola, looking down on the Earth, and being able to see me waving, at them would

be so awsome, however the work that they our doing on the Space station, is going to benifit all of us

    here on Earth.

I  have been so Interested in Space, and  the Universe for as long as I can  Remember , I sit on my  Porch early every

morning, just looking at the morning stars, and  woundering if there is life  outside of our Universe.

  5. Sitting out on my porch the last two mornings, I  spotted the space station, right above me, I

Waved  up at them, I  know that they can't see me waving at them, but I  know that they  appreciate, the fact

That  I  made the  effort to  wave at  them anyway

  6. I  was just  out on  my  porch early this morning, and  saw  a shooting star, and  am also  seeing a  bunch  of  satellites 🛰  in the

atmosphere,  there is so much going on in the  cosmos this morning.

  7. I am not new to Stargazing, But I would like to know what Plants, to observe this spring with either the  naked eye, or with my Telescope, I have been told in the past

to just get out and stargaze, and  get used to looking at the night sky, but to just take my time since I am Amateur  Astronomer , I have a lot to learn, and am willing to

learn from all people on this forum.

I also have  Celestron Binoculars that I can use as well as a Celestron Telescope, so hoping to get out very soon, I cant wait for Spring to get here so that I can

get out there, but need to wait too see what our ground hog has to say, either it will be six more weeks of winter,or an early spring...

  8. bject I  was out on my Porch this morning at about 4:00 am, observing the morning sky, and  was  looking  straight to the East, and  saw a  small blinking

object, not sure what it was,I can look on my star chart, but am still getting used to using my star chart, it was a tiny orange little object, and I was observing it

with my eyes, did not use my telescope to observe, tomorrow morning I can  go out there with my  Binoculars tomorrow morning and look at the object that way

How did you know they were booster rockets?

I  was not sure if they were Booster Rockets,It was just Before sunrise that I saw an object going

Across the  early morning sky, as I said it was  way before sunrise,it could have been  GPS  2 -17 ROCKET 1,or it could have been a  satellite

or even a  Starlink 1353,I am not sure what it was  that I saw, so another member gave me too websites and I looked up both and booked

mark both websites so that I can go back to either website and look up the object that I am seeing, and  find out what Im seeing

the websites our ww.heavens-above.com/main.aspx the other website is,https://in-the -sky.org

If you've not come across them, there are a number of websites where you can specify your location and get a list of satellites that are visible from your location, including the time and their direction. It's quite fun to spot them and then lookup the name of what you're seeing, who it belongs to, and how long it's been in space.

Years ago there was a number of communication satellites that had parabolic dishes that would occasionally catch the sunlight and appear to flare - often very brightly. It was possible to calculate in advance when this was likely to happen, and go outside and watch one of these "iridium flares". Unfortunately I think most of them have now been decomissioned.

This is a good site for satellite information: https://www.heavens-above.com/main.aspx

This is just another chosen at random: https://in-the-sky.org/satpasses.php

is  it  possible that what I am seeing is  cosmos 1455 rocket

or  would it be possible that I am seeing  Starlinck 1551

I might even be seeing  cosmos 807  or  GPS 2-17  ROCKET

  11. I am  watching  How the Universe Works

and  I am  learning  about  Jupiter  so  that  is  where I think I  will start

I  will   work on leaning  about  Jupiter for  a couple months and  then move on to  learning   about  Arcturus

but  wont get  to  view  Jupiter in  the  early  morning  sky  till late summer

  12. they were not  blinking and  saw them just before the was rising  it  was  low in the orbital  Atmosphere

that  is  what a  member of  Cloudy Nights told me,I am a member of that community too

I am not sure if they our right or nor, but I would  love too know if what I am looking at is right or not

all I  was  told  is that when  I  go  out on my porch just  before the  sun gets a chance to rise that is what

that small objects in  the  early morning  sky our,I  would  love too know for sure

    cool  👾

this looks  just  like pretty much the same  one like I have on my  telescope

and  I  have  a 10mm lens and a 20 mm  I am going to start using my telescope sometime soon

and I have  a  Celestron  Binoculars , that I have been viewing the early morning sky too I  looked at Arcturus

which  is bright orange and sits just to the east where I live ,as I step out on my porch about 4:00 or 4:15 am

I look to the East  so I am also looking at  Ursa Major and  follow Ursa Major up all the way to the end of the  Handel

and   see Arcturus a  bright orange  star as I was told from a member in this community

I  will  out on my  porch tomorrow morning to look at Arcturus with my bis

The analemma is the figure of eight track of the sun at a specific point in time each day over the course of the year.  It can be captured photographically but requires, time, patience, attention to detail and committment.  Are you up for it?  Well executed analemma pictures are few and far between.

Here is an excellent article which explains how to achieve a successful result https://www.instructables.com/Capture-the-Analemma-of-the-Sun/

Having captured the analemma you can travel to a stunning location for your foreground.  This isn't cheating, in fact it is essential since any useable photos of the sun require everything else to be blacked out anyway!

It would be marvellous to see what SGL members can achieve with this.  Of course it takes a year to complete so this challenge is going to run until the end of April 2022.

Please send in "work in process" images as you go along.

how can I  sign up for this challenge

  15. I  am  starting  to  study  up on Booster  Rockets , I  was standing out on my porch this morning ,and  saw two Booster Rockets this morning

they  our  so  neat  too see,I  am going to concentrate on studying about Booster Rockets , for a couple of months, and then I will look to study something new

I  think Booster  Rockets  our  seen just as the morning sun is rising  up in the morning.
