  1. Hello All, I've been enjoying stargazing for about a year. Taking my time adding lenses and I am thinking of adding a low power lens. What do think of the 31mm or 36mm Baader? Using: 8" flex dob, 2.5x iluminous barlow & 17.5mm Morpheus.
  2. Update: Thought I'd post an update, good news and maybe a pic that can help another (beginner). I retuned the other two barlows and purchased the 2" Celestron 2.5X Luminos barlow. You can tell in the pic that the 17.5 Morpheus doesn't seat all the way down, but I obtained focus easily. The image was clear and no color distortions. No moon out to test it, so I focused on Jupiter (good color) and the rings of Saturn. It was so much easier to balance (only used 1 pound weight added with a velcro strap). Thanks for others that contributed and hope this is a good share. iPonchco For reference- returned: Zhumell 2" 2x ED Astromania 2" ED 2X My EQ: 8" Skywatcher Flex 200-P
  3. Update: I was able to obtain focus, but it would not be user friendly. Also, color gets funky around the edge and edge of moon. Regrettably, I'm returning. I would like to get a really good barlow; any recommendations on a 2"? I like the idea of have the lens removable to change the magnification. Thanks iPonchco
  4. Thank you for replying. Like this? I'm going to try tonight.
  5. So, I'm not sure how to connect & obtain focus. Unfortunately, I did not find much online. My equipment: 8" dob 17.5 Morpheus and 2" 2x Astromania Barlow (pic1) W/ 2" colar (pic2) Direct into focuser (pic3) Any point in the right direction would be appreciated.
  6. Alright peeps and again thank you. Its apparent I didn't do enough research. I have a 8" Skywatcher dob and I'm digging it. Got myself a dslr too. I have until tomorrow to return my purchase and look for a 1.25 barlow. I looked up the 16mm Explore Scientific 68° Series. I'll aim for that later.
  7. I like the barlow I purchased and I took several pictures with my DSLR of the moon. It had great detail and to my eyes I was very impressed. I am mainly interested in planetary... I was checking out Jupiter and Saturn these last couple of weeks and very much stoked. I want to get a 2" eyepiece, so that I can easily remove my dslr and pop in my EP without using any adapters. To me it makes sense. I have my eye on the Celestron Luminos 19mm. Any suggestions I would consider of course. Thanks again!
  8. My 8" dob can use both 2" and 1.25", so I thought getting a 2" barrel and 2" barlow would be best and make it easier changing from viewing and connecting my dslr. I can't say I understand the chart, but I appreciate the info.
  9. Thanks for replying and your feed back. Learning process and here is my thought process. I figure since 2" EP do have a wider field of you then I'd want to get to having everything 2". Perhaps I should have purchased the EP 1st then a barlow. I do wear glasses, so that and a wider FOV was my thought. I'm still learning, so I wonder if I should return or keep going with my thought.
  10. So I bought myself a Celestron Luminos 2.5x 2-inch barlow. I think it's awesome, but I think it's time to upgrade my 10 and 20 mm 1.25" plossi that came with my dob. I want a 2". Any thoughts or recommendations?
  11. Ya, glad I didn't sell my celestron. I actually found a way to make the stand more stable, so keeping that puppy.
  12. Welcome. I'm barely checking things out. This place looks great! iPoncho
  13. Oh dang. Looks like I might graduate from the peanut gallery. Shopping for dslr camera. Update: 2nd modena shot kicked my butt, so I made this. Piece of PVC, Dremel tool & wala attached my GoPro. Yes. I read some threads, but already had it.
  14. Thank you for the welcomes. Yup, early settler on the moon. So far only peanuts spent. I got a free telrad, so I side stepped the plastic finder frustration. I got good focus from the start so I got only more into it. I've since then got a 8" dobsonian and made my own base. I'm sure there is a place for me to post a pic soon enough.
  15. Just getting started. Since I'm just at home I dusted off last years Fathers day gift and have been observing with a Crlestron 127eq. It's been fun, but dp to limitations I got an 8" dob and just finished my diy rocker box. Glad to be here. iPoncho
