  1. Welcome to SGL. It's always nice to see other people from Norn Iron
  2. Welcome to SGL Dave, let's hope we have more clear skies in Ireland soon
  3. Welcome. Nice to see another Norn Iron member I'm near Dromore and am the pretty new to astronomy. I managed to finally get a SW-200P recently and managed to see Saturn and Jupiter. Blown away. I am lucky to have dark sky's at home, but lots of cloud at the moment .
  4. Congratulations Chris, I've only just come across your YouTube channel and find the content fantastic. (While waiting for my Sky-watcher 200P to arrive, I today purchased a Celestron FirstScope from Flo after watching your video. Something to get me started while I wait for the big Dobsonian)
  5. Enjoy your retirement Martin, You answered a newbie's questions with patience and professionalism. Thanks for everything
  6. That's the one! I couldn't remember the name of the app. Interestingly, I only have the option for Sky at Night here. It must be down to what the local council has to offer.
  7. LibrariesNI here have an eMagazine section which allows you to download the latest magazine and keep. Might be worth checking if your local council library offers a similar service.
  8. I can't wait for it to arrive. I'm already crossing days off the calendar even though I don't know when the delivery date is
  9. Great photo and welcome I've always wanted to visit BC, purely for the Horse Riding. Maybe add Astronomy onto that list as well
  10. Well, I clicked the necessary buttons and ordered the SkyWatcher 200P this afternoon. Let the waiting games begin Thanks for the advice everyone
  11. Nice @200pman, I’m guessing that’s a custom setup and not something I could purchase. I think the table is about my limit
  12. Thank you all for the kind replies. I tend to over analyse things so rather than get more confused, I thought it best to ask So thank you. I'll get right on it tonight 😛
  13. Evening all, I've been reading a lot of threads, posts and ordering Turn Left at Orion (Which arrived today and I can't wait to read) and had narrowed down my choice of first proper telescope to the Sky-Watcher Classic 200P Dobsonian from Flo due to the great reviews and I only want to do visual viewing at the moment. I was about to press the order button and join the waiting list, but I read some more posts about Dobsonian's being difficult to keep on target for a beginner. Is it particularly difficult for a complete beginner or just something you have to master? Also, after reading those posts I stumbled across a DIY Equatorial Platform thread which might be of help to me. Is this worth investigating further, or should I start my telescope search again? Thanks for reading and I'll apologise in advance as I'm sure this won't be the only set of questions I have.
  14. Hi John, Sorry to bother, but I don't suppose you could PM me a copy as well please? Thank you.
  15. Thank you all for the kind welcome Thank you, I'm originally from Sheffield, but moved here over 15 years ago. I'm a few miles outside of Dromore, so have some lovely dark sky here. Where are you based?
  16. Evening all, Just wanted to say hello from Northern Ireland. I had a basic budget Telescope when I was 10 years old that my parents purchased me for Christmas and I loved searching the night skies (I didn't see much mind, which is why I gave it in all those years ago) Now, 30 years later I want to revisit my stargazing dreams and stumbled across this forum while looking for beginner telescopes. I have a lot of reading to do, but look forward to being part of this community. Have a great evening
