  1. Oh it does, thank you! I will definitely try that next time (sadly I've had to come back inside as apparently its not acceptable to completely ignore ones children on christmas eve)
  2. Nothing compared with some of the dazzling shots on here, but just snapped with my mobile held up to the eyepiece. I'm staggered. Thank you Dobbie and for all the advice on here 🙂
  3. Nope sadly mixed cloud for us, think we managed to see the conjunction from the M6 driving for fish and chips, but saw the moon later through the scope and clouds
  4. Thanks to all of you for your advice, Dobbie has been incredibly patient with me and I picked up the dob last week. It is therefore my fault its been cloudy since 🙈
  5. Thank you for all your help and comments. Dobbie has very patiently answered my questions and I'm buying the Bresser 😁
  6. Thank you for the responses. I'm sorry I should have been clearer-my 9 year old will be happy with lunar and planetary views but my dad might want to venture further into the fuzzies 🙂
  7. Good morning, I've been reading loads of threads about the best first scope to buy, and I understand the situation with supply at the moment so I am pondering second hand options. From my searching, the options available to me on the market right now are a Bresser 6" (which is advertised on here but has some dinks), a sky-watcher heritage 130 which I understand is the beginners scope of choice but may be an old ad so not actually available A Skywatcher 1309 eq2 Or a Skywatcher Sky-Watcher Heritage-114p Virtuoso And potentially a Celestron Astromaster 130 or there is also a Helios locally. Are there any of these you would plump for? Or avoid as being complete hobby killers? For context I live in the wilds of cumbria- great for star gazing, less great for actually collecting second hand purchases! Thank you, and I'm sorry for yet another beginners scope thread!
