I've had this moon filter for a while now. I've enjoyed using it, but I'm unsure it's light transmission percentage.
I'm familiar with neutral density filters, coming from a 35mm film background. I now know that many moon filters are graded by their light transmission percentage, but this one isn't.
Any ideas? 🤔

You look well covered there @Ian McCallum great EP collection!
I must stress that it was a combination of factors that made me sell the BST range and purchase a few of the Morpheus range. It is true that to my eye the longer focal length BST eye pieces seemed to create a large amount of elongated star shapes in the 300p (Coma?) However after a decent collimation of the 300p the 5-8 & 12 seemed to perform very well in this scope. The other factor was after purchasing the 14mm Morpheus and using it in the 300p I was extremely impressed with the optical performance, wide field of view and excellent eye relief.
Back on topic 🙂 BST Eye pieces are extremely great value for money. I found them to have a much sharper image than the supplied stock eye pieces, They also offer a decent 60 degree fov and comfortable eye relief. I was particular fan of the 8mm for x150 & 15mm x 80 viewing. they both gave very nice medium and low power views.
The 200p was also my 1st scope, I do still have it now. It is a very impressive scope. Looking at Jupiter through it for the 1st time genuinely made me step back from the eye piece in shock at what I was actually seeing. It has given me great views of Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus along with a number of deep sky objects all with the BST EP range. A truly wonderful combination.
Regards
Barry
I bet you're glad you kept your 200P.😉

Ian (aka formerly merlin100).

I know it's a pain having to wait, but I'd plump for the 200P. That's the model I have and I'm biased... 😉 @Barry-W-Fenner had the 200P, then upsized to a larger model. He ended up replacing a load of his BST Starguider eyepieces because they didn't quite cut the mustard on the larger Dobsonian. I've got the full range of BST Starguider eyepieces and they are very good quality eyepieces, for most telescopes and most people.

I left my Sky-Watcher Skyliner 200P Dobsonian out for about 20-30mins, at 20.50hrs this evening.
I think put on a Meade Super Plossl 15mm eyepiece and attached the smartphone adaptor to it.
I managed to get a few photographs of M42 the Orion Nebula, before it was obscured by the passing clouds.
Seeing conditions aren't that great and I couldn't get a clear image in the eyepiece, as I'd hoped.

Welcome back Ian , I've read may of your great posts here. As only a newbie, I haven’t post up much but read a lot what goes on here, it’s what made me join the 130pds brigade. Anyway, I think changing username to your real name is a great idea. I’ve started to doing the same for any new accounts I join. Wonder if there is a easy way of changing it on SGL ?
look forward to reading / seeing more of adventures
Best speak to one of the Admin team, as they should be able to give you advice and help.👍

My favourite is a 2nd hand SW 28mm LET 2" eyepiece, that I bought from another SGL member. It's good for wide views and I've seen the Orion Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy and other targets.

Great job Ian. You know what, i was planning to get a 8 inch dobsonian and here it shows that the dob actually deas a great job.
I'm in a Bortle 6 location, so there's hope for many people.

I was lucky enough last night to see M42 The Orion Nebula from home.
This was the first time from home and the first time this winter.
The clouds soon rolled in though.

Hi Ian, welcome. I lived in Beith, Ayrshire, for 17 years, 1993-2008, and it was the wettest place I have ever lived. I remember in my final year there keeping a note of the number of times during the period November to February I was able to use my scope, it was 6. I hope for your sake things have greatly improved since!
Keith
It's probably just as bad now! 😯

Hi Ian :). Did you ask the admin if you could change your username instead of creating a new account?
I asked Grant to delete my previous account, which he did for me last month.

I'm back with a new username, in fact my own name.
It's Ian (formerly merlin100) from Ayrshire, SW Scotland.

I did a bit more digging and found that it has a transmission percentage of 13%. 👍
