  1. I've been thinking about buying some new eyepieces, I only have the stock ones that I received with the telescope. I have a DOB 150P, I've been thinking about getting this one https://www.firstlightoptics.com/bst-starguider-eyepieces/bst-starguider-60-5mm-ed-eyepiece.html I already have bought a 2x Barlow
  2. I got one of family members to take a look at it, says that something isn't giving enough power so indeed it may be that something got fried and isn't working properly. Gonna get the board to someone experienced to see if they can fix it, if nothing I just order the replacement box.
  3. Well, I probably know what happened. I've just realized I've been using 19V power supply instead of 12V, though it worked for a while it probably fried something after I shut it off last time. Not sure if I should try to get someone to fix it, or just buy a replacement.
  4. No I mean I just use the HC to try to slew to object, it says slewing but it does not actually do anything. The cables are plugged in though. Maybe the HC is just banged up, it has fallen quite a few times on the ground. But I've ordered an EQDIR cable to see. I hope it is just the Hand controller. I will be checking again tomorrow to confirm that the cables are plugged in well, that there isn't maybe any spacing. It said it a few days ago too I believe, I recall something of the sort where it wouldn't slew. However that was simply the cables not being plugged. Now even when the cables are plugged it does not work. Both of the axes do not respond.
  5. Was testing the EQ5 Pro today, but it kept saying Both axes no response. Was working fine around 3 days ago. Now it just keeps saying Both axes no response, what could be the issue here? Fried board? I've tried using my Celestron battery, tried two different power adapters yet nothing. The HC lights up fine, but it just says Both axes no response, you try to slew to object and it just gets stuck. I've been thinking about ordering an EQDIR cable, but if the HC port is screwed then what's the point?
  6. Does anyone know what mounting rings are compatible with the Rokinon?
  7. I have an EQ5 that I upgraded with the SynScan Upgrade kit, it works well.
  8. Welcome back, 200P still can be used today, many people use it for astrophotography and have gotten great images with it. I have that scope and it's great, though one downside I guess is its big but that depends on who you ask.
  9. I am looking for the exact screw as the one on the image below, unfortunately I have lost it. Any help would be great
  10. You're right, I figured that out after making this thread, ABE is so bad for this.
  11. This is after doing ABE in PixInsight, not sure why this happens... I'm not really worried about the dust spots, thats fine but what bothers me are these weird red gradients, they make the image very bad.
  12. Stepping into my shed observatory after around 2 weeks of not entering it, I come upon 2 spiders around 10 earwigs (ton of more though most likely). What to do to exterminate these [removed word]? I don't really care about spiders as they're just small and they just stay in one place but earwigs are on my nerve.
  13. The framing is off but that's because I was manually searching for M31, it is a pretty bright object and was easy to find with 10x50 binoculars but with a 135mm lens it was a different story. Me finding it with the dslr was totally random as that was my last try that night so I didn't wanna risk losing it. I had lost my DSLR cable somewhere on the trip to the site and couldn't use plate solving and goto that easily. I used HEQ5 Pro with Rokinon 135mm F2, subs were 60s, total exposure 10mins. No flats/darks
  14. How do you guys take flats with 8" or bigger newts? Do you just use LED panels? I see ton of people using those light pads.
  15. EQ6 is definitely not overkill, such scopes like the 8" are much better suited to EQ6 class mounts. I have an 8" newtonian that I use with my HEQ5, tracking's fine, with guiding I usually do 4min subs, now I would have gotten an EQ6 but there were no stock and HEQ5 is great for travel too. It's always better to get a better mount if you have the money, I had the money but I was getting impatient and I don't regret my decision given that besides using the 8" newtonian I'll be using other scopes and telephoto lenses such as 135mm which really is just so easy, I just mount the camera and the 135mm and easily do 3-4 min subs without guiding.
  16. Just use Wyze V3, Ring is expensive and pointless as an all sky
  17. https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p3822_TS-Optics-NEWTONIAN-Coma-Corrector-0-95x-Maxfield---3-element---2--connection.html Been looking to get a coma corrector for my Newtonian 200P, got recommended this one by a guy
  18. I have trouble balancing the DEC axis, its always top heavy no matter where the dovetail is. I'm using the HEQ5 Pro, the RA axis is fine but DEC is just out of balance for some reason.
  19. I got frustrated a week ago because my PC wasn't detecting the mount, fast forward 20 mins and I realize the cable wasn't plugged n.
  20. How do you guys clean dusk motes on your DSLR sensor? I have like 2 dark ones which are really annoying, they haven't bothered me in the past because I just wanted to see what some DSO look like but as I want to get better pictures it's become very troublesome.
  21. Looking to get a coma corrector, but not sure which, there is this one https://www.firstlightoptics.com/coma-correctors/skywatcher-coma-corrector.html and have seen good reviews about it
  22. I did the Astro mod today, had a few fails but in the end camera turned on and works fine, but putting the lens feels stiff and trying to image with it it says Err 01 could not communicate, check if contacts are clean, taking image with no lens works so not sure what is the issue here. EDIT: Never mind, seems kit lens and wide lens didnt work for some reason. My Rokinon 135mm worked just fine.
  23. I have a 700D and 450D, 700D has a flip screen and is more modern also better specifications, good for daytime too, I would suggest 700D.
