  1. Fantastic, thanks very much I'll check out some new eyepeices.
  2. Hi all I purchased a Starsense Explorer DX102AZ last year with the phone tracking mount. Regretably, it has not had much use to date (have had house renovations going on) but the kids are starting to show interest again. So far, only pointing it at the moon with the 25mm eye piece and moon filter has given any results. I know I can't expect too much out of this scope, but what can I realistically expect? Apart from the moon am I likely to only see different dots of light with this scope? Also, are there any upgrades that could help this scope or is it ok just out the box? Thanks !
  3. The NEXYZ is currently £39 on amazon prime - black friday offer
  4. Thanks Dave I understand the difference now of AZ and EQ - and the cost differences between them. Will maybe park the photography side until I am sure the hobby takes off. (I hope it does)! Thanks again
  5. Thanks, so something like this would be better? https://www.costco.co.uk/Sports-Spas-Leisure/Optics/Telescope-Spotting-Scope/Celestron-NexStar-102-SLT-Refractor-Telescope-with-Fully-Automated-Hand-Control/p/163899
  6. Hi Posted a couple of weeks ago around a beginner telescope for the family including kids and finally settled on the Celestron StarSense Explorer DX102AZ, with the NEYXZ phone adaptor, and moon filter. Since the purchase, Ive been looking at photography and trying to understand what is capable with this kit? Am I restricted to planets and the moon or is it possible to do more with a longer shutter time? Also, the GOTO scopes with motorised bases (Nexstar90 for example), do they slowly move with the earths spin or is it more of a jerk movement every now and then to keep the object centered? I've already spent way more than I wanted on a hobby Im not even sure the kids will take up, but the photography side really interests me. Please could someone point me in the direction of a group that does this with basic kit? (i.e no mechanical base and smartphone for example - if such thing exists !) Thanks !
  7. So I guess the question is - does anywhere stock Hubbles and how much are they ! Will have a proper look through that link thanks. I have no huge expectations, and haven't given the kids any either. I think the moon alone will enthuse them for a while. Please could you share a link to the mount you mentioned to make the phone screen the eyepiece ? Many thanks
  8. Did you find the 70 ok? The LT80 is available to pre order for late November may go for that for a few quid more.. Phone connectivity not an issue.
  9. Thanks for the reply, I've just stumbled across the Celstron StarSense explorer LT70AZ now and it looks perfect for what we need, and the phone integration is perfect for finding things to see quickly! Now to find somewhere in stock ...
  10. Hi all I can see this has been asked before (alot), but as I read more it is getting harder to decide. After a introduction scope for myself and kids (8 & 5), who are showing interest. I have looked at the Infinity-76P, but decided it was probably too basic and priced where better quality could be had for similar. Also the SW Heritage 76 - again good, but struggling to find any in stock at the price they should be. But then i noticed this at Costco (I am already a member) and with a fair discount. Would this be suitable for us? I really like the size of it, didnt want anything massive, and the option to add a tripod down the line if needed. Does this represent good value for money and usability for a beginner/kids? https://www.costco.co.uk/Sports-Spas-Leisure/Optics/Telescope-Spotting-Scope/Zhumell-Z114-114mm-Reflector-Dobsonian-Telescope/p/320068 Thanks in advance
