  1. That a nice image. How does the IR alone look?
  2. Only a suggestion for the ones that may not go through the whole thread, up to you 😉. In my opinion that feature is probably real; you see a similar structure/pattern on high resolution images. I don't think you are carrying much noise on these images. If in doubt, why not try a similar process to the other stacks and see if that feature comes up as well?
  3. I think you should make a new post in sgl as well as they deserve the visibility. Like I said, the best I have seen. It's very easy to go to the wrong side of sharpening as we are drawn to more 'details' despite the noise. These images have no noise at all and even Olympus Mons is showing more details even on top.
  4. Cracking reworks. I think you have really nice data and not much noise is creeping through. In the first one, the north polar hood is showing a cloud that is giving a nice 3d feeling to it. I think they are some of the best I have seen this season.
  5. Thanks Geof. You are very kind. I have really enjoyed my first year of serious planetary imaging. The other part of the hobby that really excites me is observing nebulas (not imaging), but a bit neglected in recent months due to the planets.
  6. You must have had really good seeing. If you don't want to stack, PIPP might make your life easier as it can convert your movie to tiffs and then you can scroll through them until you find one you think it's good.
  7. Thanks. Indeed, iss has helped with planetary a lot as they move at a snail's pace 🤣. Yes they did contact me in advance. I knew it was coming but seeing it in print is quite nice.
  8. Yes very happy on top of my SGL mug. A good end to 2022.
  9. I never thought that my planetary images are on the same level of serious imagers but I was super excited to get hold of the current issue of Sky at Night, albeit the Instagram section, with my Jupiter image I captured back in October and posted here. It's great to see it in print. All the help I have got from this forum is amazing.
  10. Excellent image with loads of details. It seems you got that one good shot. I would have given up past 2-3 bad captures at -4!
  11. Much much better. The details are coming through much better and you can clearly see some clouds at around 7 o'clock. I usually upload pngs and they seem to retain what I see on my monitor.
  12. Very nice capture of the moons. Your Mars is also showing nice details.
  13. Great image with nice details. Just a suggestion, you may want to brighten it a bit as it is currently rather dark and hard to see all the nice details you have captured.
  14. Could you explain how can you tell collimation is off please? Good to get more tips/insights.
  15. Much more details than the previous post. Nicely done.
  16. Excellent! Love the details and natural appearance. One of the best Mars I have recently seen. I got out last night but Mars had no features in my captures and I abandoned it.
  17. Worth giving it a try with a bit less and see if that helps. Similar to what Neil commented above.
  18. Nice image Chris. Great details coming through. What exposure were you doing?
  19. Thanks for the further clarifications. In my hands, I find that derotation is giving me less of an improvement and more noisy sharpening. The best Jupiter I have are from 3ms exposures so it seems to be a sweet spot for our UK seeing. I tried to go to 1ms but the seeing wasn't of the same quality so it would be an unfair comparison. Although I am fun of Astrosurface sharpening I tend to over do it. These have not been sharpened there. As I keep telling myself, unless I can see details during capture, there is no way to make a good image from a subpar capture. I abandoned my captures last night based on that.
  20. Nice video and the stacked images showing nice details on Mars .
