  1. Thanks Mike. I really appreciate this coming from you with your experience.
  2. Peter is right. You can use your Dob as it is and you can get some decent shots of planets even some of the bright DSOs; see a small representative examples. I am all manual and with practice you can get some good results. See some of my recent captures. Or opt for an EQ platform if you want to do more DSO imaging; DIY is not too expensive.
  3. I am really enjoying your sketches. Are you finishing them at the eyepiece or later on? What pencils are you using? And are these A4 drawings?
  4. Thanks Joe. I was surprised how bright it is and I think there is a plan to have more of these 🥲
  5. BlueWalker3 satellite from this afternoon. It is bright and can be seen naked eye from my back garden; I would say mag1-2 (it resembled a very dim ISS transit). I am speechless to have captured it with some details. 8" Dob, manual tracking, asi462mc, 2.5TV powermate. Resized 125%.
  6. I managed to see by naked eye and image with my Dob the Bluewalker3 satellite. It is 'scary' how bright it is, I would say mag1-2 (it resembled a very dim ISS transit) . Not good for the hobby all these bright satellites. I have posted in the imaging session more images. https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/406336-bluewalker-3-satellite-8223/
  7. Thank you both for the feedback. Craig, I agree with you on the washed out craters. I will try have a play and see what I can do; I do not think the low illumination near the terminator is helping as I tried to brighten the image a bit too much in the end.
  8. It has been a long time since I have done any lunar imaging. The moon is still quite bright but some features are starting to show. This is from 8/2/23 where Mallet and Young craters caught my interest while observing. I noticed that Mallet craters are not imaged very often. 8" Dob, manual, asi462mc, UV/IR cut filter, 2.5 TV powermate. Happy to receive feedback as it is a while since I have done moon processing. Too much or ok sharpening?
  9. Absolutely amazing video. Are you planning to stack some images out of it?
  10. The riles inside are looking very sharp.
  11. Moon is looking very stable tonight even at very high magnification. Some nice riles inside Petavious.
  12. It's looking good. I have not imaged Mars since December but you have definitely got some details; that is Syrtis major. I always focus on the planet as seeing can change dramatically within few minutes.
  13. Fantastic! Looking forward to the processed images.
  14. Excellent image. The full resolution is amazing. I wonder if you could have pushed the saturation a bit more for the mineral colours to pop more. Still an excellent image.
  15. Very good example. Even in the best 10% you see some bad ones creeping through. Do you put them for quality in pipp first? It seems to give me better results to keep the best 60% and then as!3.
  16. That looks great and very clean. I wonder if iPhone has a similar auto stacking function as my pixel that does 4min.
  17. Fantastic capture and processing. Love the background info as well.
  18. Ursa Minor and Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) (around 3 o'clock) on 27/01/23. Nikon D3200 and 18-55 lens at f 5.3 on a tripod and no tracking, 60x20s at iso 800. Siril and Gimp. The inverted monochrome shows constellation and comet clearer.
  19. This calendar came unexpectedly from a friend and colleague in Japan who has been in USA several times to meet the astronauts and to send experiments to ISS. I was told that my last ISS image I posted had her experiment on it 😲!
